Bişar Oğuz, who killed Cumali Kocabey with a gun on the street in Adana and wounded his friend, was captured in a mountain house in Mersin after police examined 550 hours of camera footage. The murder was revealed to stem from a feud caused by a mechanical defect in the car Oğuz bought from Kocabey. The suspect was arrested by the court.
A chilling incident occurred in the Onur neighborhood of Seyhan district, Adana, around 18:00 on May 24. A dispute broke out when Bişar Oğuz (31) and Cumali Kocabey (26), who had a grudge between them, encountered on the street. The argument quickly turned into a fight, and Bişar Oğuz opened fire on Kocabey with a pistol he pulled from his waist.
Struck by bullets from the gun, Cumali Kocabey was hit in the back, and his friend Doğan Toprak (26), who was next to him, was shot in the foot, both collapsing to the ground, while the suspect fled by car. Upon notification, health teams were dispatched to the scene. Kocabey and Toprak were taken to the hospital by ambulance. However, Cumali Kocabey, one of the injured, died despite all efforts by the doctors. Doğan Toprak was discharged after his treatment.
550 HOURS OF FOOTAGE EXAMINED
In the investigation conducted by the Homicide Bureau teams, it was revealed that the car Oğuz had purchased from Kocabey some time ago had a mechanical issue, and the feud between the parties started for this reason. Police examined 550 hours of footage from the City Security Management System (KGYS), License Plate Tracking System (PTS), and security cameras in the area and along the route. It was determined that the suspect, who had fled to Mersin, was hiding in a mountain house in the Ayvagediği Plateau of the Toroslar district.
"WE ARGUED BECAUSE HE DIDN'T PAY HIS DEBT"
Based on these findings, teams conducted an operation at the address. During the police raid, suspect Bişar Oğuz was caught and taken into custody. Brought to the Adana Police Department, Oğuz stated in his testimony, "The car I bought from Cumali had a mechanical failure. Because of this, a feud started between us. When he and his friend attacked me, I fired to defend myself."
ARRESTED
After the procedures at the police station, Oğuz was referred to the courthouse and arrested by the court.
