Samsunspor fan Olgun Aydoğan traveled 31,000 kilometers by attending all of the team's away matches in Europe with a 55 square meter flag he made using Samsun's license plate code.
Samsunspor fan Olgun Aydoğan had a 55 square meter Samsunspor flag made to support the red-and-white team in matches, in accordance with the license plate code of Samsun, which is 55.
TRAVELED 31 THOUSAND KILOMETERS WITH HIS 55 SQUARE METER FLAG Olgun Aydoğan, who attended all of the red-and-white team's European matches this season, traveled a total of 31 thousand kilometers to all the away matches he attended with this flag.
'I WANT IT TO REMAIN AS A MEMORY OF THOSE DAYS' Aydoğan, who stated that he wanted to gift the flag he took with him to all European matches to Samsunspor, said, 'Right now, the dust, dirt, and soil of those countries are on the flag. I hope to gift it to the club. I mean, this history may be lived again in 20 years, and I want this flag to remain as a trace from those days. The flag filled the empty spaces in the stands and created a beautiful image because it is 55 square meters. We gathered around it in the squares of the countries we visited with our fans and chanted slogans. I believe this flag has a significant impact in away matches,' he said.
'I CARRIED THE FLAG ON MY BACK TO ALL EUROPEAN MATCHES' Aydoğan, who stated that he would work harder with Samsunspor's ongoing successes, said, 'We see these successes of Samsunspor as a beginning. That's why I got an idea and said let's have a flag made. This flag is exactly 55 square meters, which is the size of Samsun's license plate code. It weighs about 7.5 kilograms. I carried this flag on my back and traveled 11 thousand kilometers from Samsun to Iceland, 5 thousand kilometers to Germany, and went to Skopje, Spain, and all other European away matches. Despite facing difficulties, I brought it along, and I am proud of that. So far, I have traveled a total of 31 thousand kilometers with this flag for Samsunspor's European away matches,' he expressed.
'WE HAVE NOT YET FULLY ESTABLISHED THE STADIUM CULTURE' Despite the beautiful successes of Samsunspor, Aydoğan pointed out that citizens have not fully supported their city in the best way, saying:
'Of course, it was a blessing to go to European cups after many years. Samsunspor made us experience this feeling. So far this season, we have played 12 matches in Europe. We started in Athens, then went to Warsaw, Iceland, Mainz, Skopje, and Madrid for away matches. We also participated in the home European matches in Samsun. We created memories, experiences, and friendships. We mingled with many fans in Europe, established friendships, and these bonds are still ongoing. We formed a group with friends who went from Samsun to European away matches, and we currently have a very close friendship. All of this happened thanks to Samsunspor. We also experienced more interesting things. For example, there were Rayo Vallecano fans who came from Madrid to Samsun. However, our number of fans and spectators was a bit low in the home match. While watching the match in the stadium, a group next to me came and said, 'A well-established team from Spain has come here, but there are not enough spectators in the stands. We are members of the Atatürk Association, we came to support this match for the emblem of Samsunspor. We are not from Samsun, we are Fenerbahçeliler, but we came to support Samsunspor's emblem with Atatürk. But we see that the stands are empty.' We heard from many people: 'We came for the emblem, we support the emblem.' But unfortunately, we have not yet fully established this stadium culture in Samsun. In Samsunspor's European away matches, we watched the games alongside Beşiktaş, Fenerbahçe, Göztepe, and Altay fans. They were also wearing their own jerseys. In fact, here, the colors of Samsunspor united people.'
