The increased use of signal jammers and internet restrictions in Russia for security reasons has brought daily life to a standstill. In videos shared on social media, a Russian citizen, in tears and stating that they could not reach anyone due to network issues, appealed to the authorities, saying, "If you are mocking us, give us back our landlines and payphones."

Recent increases in internet restrictions, VPN blocks, and the use of jammers in Russia have brought daily life to a standstill. In a video shared on social media that quickly went viral, the tears of a Russian woman, caused by connection issues, highlighted the public's helplessness in the face of digital isolation.

"WE CAN'T EVEN CALL AN AMBULANCE"

The woman, who rebelled in tears, stated that the jammers used in schools and throughout the city for security reasons not only cut off the internet but also disrupted basic communication lines. Emphasizing that even phone networks are not functioning, the citizen expressed:

"If you are mocking us, give us back our landlines and payphones! There is no normal network anywhere. We can't call an ambulance or reach our children. I understand security measures, but at least let us have basic communication."

REACTION TO DIGITAL CURRENCY PLANS

The woman also addressed the government's work on the "Digital Ruble" and cashless payment systems, criticizing the inconsistency in the system while pointing out the lack of infrastructure. Reminding that POS devices do not work due to the lack of internet in stores, the citizen described the plans to transition to digital currency as "foolishness":

"How are you going to implement digital currency? What are we going to do if the terminal doesn't work because there is no internet when I go to the store? This is complete chaos."

SECURITY OR ISOLATION?

In Russia, where access to Western social media platforms and communication applications is only possible via VPN, the recent restrictions on VPN services and the proliferation of jammers have become a serious topic of discussion.
