MESUT RESPONDED TO THE ALLEGATIONS
It was claimed that Mesut Özil, a former player of Fenerbahçe, had spoken with Sane regarding the transfer and advised him to join Galatasaray.
Mesut Özil responded for the first time to these allegations regarding the transfer. In his statement, Özil said, "Big names are coming to Turkey, playing football here. I hope our big clubs succeed in Europe. I am also very happy for Leroy Sane, for coming to Turkey. Because he was born and raised in Gelsenkirchen like me. He also made his way out of Schalke."
Özil also stated, "We talked on the phone before he transferred to Turkey. The media wrote that I directed him to Galatasaray, but he asked more about Turkey. He asked about life in Istanbul and whether it is safe. We talked about these things. I told him it is a very beautiful and safe city. We have incredible food, and I said we would be very happy if he comes. I wish him success as well."
