In Burdur, a 62-year-old person was alleged to have sexually assaulted a 14-year-old child and then shot the child with a gun when the child resisted. The suspect was arrested by the court.

The incident occurred on May 8 in the Şeker Plajı area of central Burdur. According to the allegation, while A.K. (62) and a male child named E.H. (14) were together in a car, A.K. attempted to sexually assault E.H. When E.H. resisted, A.K. shot E.H. in the head with a gun. A.K. then brought E.H., who was wounded in the head, to Burdur State Hospital and claimed the incident was a suicide. The severely injured child was hospitalized for treatment.

DETAILED INVESTIGATION LAUNCHED

Police teams initiated an investigation into the incident and conducted a detailed examination of the vehicle where the event took place. A.K., who was taken into custody, was released on judicial control conditions after his court hearing.

The child, who was in life-threatening condition, was transferred to Isparta City Hospital after initial treatment at Burdur State Hospital. It was learned that after about a month of treatment, the child opened his eyes and stated in his statement to police that A.K. attempted to sexually assault him and shot him when he resisted.

ARRESTED AND SENT TO PRISON

Following this, teams from the Burdur Provincial Police Department's Public Order Branch Directorate Homicide Bureau took suspect A.K. into custody again and, after police procedures, referred him to the courthouse. A.K., brought before the court, was arrested on charges of "sexual abuse of a child and attempted intentional murder" and sent to prison. Relatives of the suspect interfered with journalists and tried to prevent them from filming.
