The former CEO of many giant companies including Digiturk and Yapı Kredi Bankası, Mehmet Emin Karamehmet, who was once ranked as the 29th richest person in the world in 2000, draws attention with his modest lifestyle. Karamehmet, who was spotted shopping at a chain supermarket in Akatlar, placed the items he bought into a bag and then directed himself towards the elevator, saying "Take care of yourselves" to the reporter who was filming him.
Çukurova Holding Chairman Mehmet Emin Karamehmet, who entered Forbes' "World's Richest" list in 2000 with a fortune of 8 billion dollars and has remained at the top of Turkey's lists, was spotted in a supermarket in Istanbul after years.

After putting the products he bought from a market in Akatlar into a bag and heading towards the elevator, Karamehmet responded to the reporter who filmed him at the exit of the market, saying "We're not doing anything, we're working. Goodbye and take care," and waved to the camera.

Karamehmet, who was chosen as the 29th richest person in the world by Forbes magazine in 2000, was the former owner of companies such as Turkcell, Digiturk, Skyturk360, Show TV, Akşam Gazetesi, and BMC, which were taken over by the Savings Deposit Insurance Fund (TMSF) due to debts, in addition to Pamukbank and Yapı Kredi banks. Karamehmet still serves as the Chairman of Çukurova Holding.
WHO IS MEHMET EMİN KARAMEHMET?
Mehmet Emin Karamehmet was born on April 1, 1944, in the Tarsus district of Mersin. After completing his high school education at Tarsus American College and Robert College, he received an economics education at Dover College in the United Kingdom. During his presidency of Mersin İdmanyurdu (1969-1970), the team finished fourth in the first league. He also founded and served as the Chairman of Çukurova Holding, which operates in various sectors from automotive to communication and information technologies, and established important companies such as Turkcell and Digiturk. Although his fortune has changed over time, he is still considered one of Turkey's richest businessmen.
