CHP leader Özgür Özel's being booed in Brussels was described as a "scandal" by President Erdoğan, who stated, "They are organizing complaint tours abroad. Can there be such disgrace? While they are producing words, we are producing works in Anatolia."
Upon returning from the 'Peace Summit' in Egypt, President Erdoğan responded to journalists' questions on the plane and harshly criticized CHP leader Özgür Özel for booing him in Brussels.
"CAN THERE BE SUCH A SHAME?"
Starting his speech by saying, "Friends, the CHP does not surprise us," Erdoğan stated, "These are things we are used to from the CHP. In the past, they always sought the response they could not find from their own people in foreign lands. Even the cadres managing the CHP have difficulty understanding what the CHP is doing and what it plans. The situation they have brought the municipalities to is evident. It is clear what they have turned the municipalities into with their incompetence. I said in Trabzon, they are organizing complaint tours abroad. Can there be such a shame?"
"HE SIGNED A MAJOR SCANDAL"
Describing Özel's booing of him as a "scandal," Erdoğan said, "Actually, we would have expected Mr. Özel to apologize to the European Turks. You know, two months ago, a member of parliament referred to our expatriates as 'idiots.' There has been no statement or correction from the CHP leadership on this matter. Since you went to Brussels, at least apologize for this. Not only did Mr. Özel fail to show this virtue; he also signed a much bigger scandal by having the President of Turkey booed by his comrades."
"WHILE THEY ARE PRODUCING WORDS IN BRUSSELS..."
Continuing his remarks, Erdoğan emphasized that they will continue to produce works, saying, "It's really a shame. While they are producing words in Brussels, we are producing works in Anatolia. At that time, I was in Rize, and on the other side, I was inaugurating projects in Trabzon. We traveled around those places for 4 days this weekend. I visited the streams of our Rize, we reviewed all those places, and enjoyed them with my ministerial friends. By constantly traveling around our country, we will continue to unite with our people, inshallah."
