Heavy sanctions are coming for opportunists from the Ministry!

The sanctions imposed on individuals or legal entities identified in price gouging controls by the Ministry of Trade will be tightened. The Ministry announced that it aims to prevent price gouging practices by imposing administrative fines in inspections carried out as of September 15, 2024.

The Ministry of Trade announced that as of September 15, it has imposed administrative fines totaling 327,376,495 TL on 1,274 individuals, both natural and legal persons, within the scope of price control and sector-specific inspections. In a statement made by the Ministry, it was reported that inspections are continuing intensively in all 81 provinces by the General Directorate of Domestic Trade to ensure price stability and prevent excessive pricing.

AIMING FOR JUSTICE IN THE DOMESTIC MARKET

In a written statement made by the Ministry, it was stated that "In order to ensure price stability and establish a fair domestic market by preventing excessive pricing, the General Directorate of Domestic Trade of the Ministry of Trade continues to carry out sector-specific inspections as well as inspections for excessive pricing intensively in all 81 provinces. Within the scope of our inspections, in the inspections for excessive pricing, a total of 15,080 individuals, both natural and legal persons, were inspected in 2023, and administrative fines totaling 135,104,257 TL were imposed on 646 individuals who were found to be in violation. From the beginning of 2024 until September 15, within the scope of inspections for excessive pricing, a total of 45,318 individuals, both natural and legal persons, were inspected, and administrative fines totaling 197,610,314.50 TL were imposed on 691 individuals who were found to be in violation."

202 COMPANIES WERE INSPECTED

It was stated that 202 companies were inspected in the automotive sector in 2024, and "A total of 68 companies that engaged in irregular acts and actions and practiced hoarding were fined a total of 75,013,928 TL. Within the scope of our inspections for the real estate sector, a total of 538 individuals, both natural and legal persons, were inspected as of September 15, 2024, and administrative fines totaling 30,152,253 TL were imposed on 392 individuals who were found to be in violation. Within the scope of inspections conducted for the jewelry sector, a total of 310 individuals, both natural and legal persons, were inspected in 2024, and administrative fines totaling 24,600,000 TL were imposed on 123 individuals due to irregular acts. In addition to inspections, a total of 46 wholesale traders and 2 poultry companies were fined a total of 30,074,880 TL in the meeting of the Unfair Price Evaluation Board held on July 24, 2024, under the decision numbered 2024/3. As the Ministry of Trade, a total of 46,368 individuals, both natural and legal persons, were inspected within the scope of sector-specific inspections and inspections for excessive pricing until September 15, 2024, and administrative fines totaling 327,376,495.50 TL were imposed on 1,274 individuals who engaged in irregular acts and actions, as well as attempted hoarding."
