Pointing out that global economic growth has been stagnant according to United Nations data, İlgüner stated, "According to Brand Finance data, the total value of the world's 500 most valuable brands increased by 10% year-on-year and reached $9.5 trillion this year. The total value exceeded the global economic growth rate of 3%." TURKISH BRANDS DID NOT MAKE IT TO THE LISTİlgüner noted that despite various forms of support from the government, Turkey's branding is still not at a sufficient level, stating: Countries are becoming richer with their brands, gaining prosperity and reputation. The brand at the very bottom of the ranking table has a value of $4.9 billion, and since there is no brand that has reached this value, Turkish brands did not appear in the ranking this year either. Furthermore, in the last 10 years, the value gap between the most valuable Turkish brand and the brand at the very bottom of the global ranking is widening. In other words, countries are becoming richer with their brands, gaining prosperity and reputation. For example, the Austrian brand Red Bull has a brand value of $9.7 billion, the Danish brand Lego has a value of $11 billion, and Switzerland's watch brand Rolex has reached a value of $18.8 billion. Even more striking is the brand value of $6.4 billion achieved by Vietnam's telecom company Viettel. “THE PATH FOR TURKISH BRANDS SHOULD BE OPENED”Emphasizing the need for a national branding movement, İlgüner stated, "The issue should be thoroughly examined with the participation of all parties, including not only the public but also the private sector, and the way should be opened for Turkish brands to gain value on a global scale." The top 20 of the world's most valuable 500 brands are as follows (in billion dollars): Rank | Brand | Country | Industry | Brand Value | 1 | Apple | USA | Technology | 574.5 | 2 | Microsoft | USA | Technology | 461.1 | 3 | Google | USA | Media | 413 | 4 | Amazon | USA | Retail | 356.4 | 5 | Walmart | USA | Retail | 137.2 | 6 | Samsung Group | South Korea | Technology | 110.6 | 7 | TikTok/Douyin | China | Media | 105.8 | 8 | Facebook | USA | Media | 91.5 | 9 | NVIDIA | USA | Semiconductors | 87.9 | 10 | State Grid Corporation of China | China | General Services | 85.6 | 11 | Deutsche Telekom | Germany | Telecom | 85.3 | 12 | Instagram | USA | Media | 79.9 | 13 | ICBC | China | Bank | 79.1 | 14 | China Construction Bank | China | Bank | 78.4 | 15 | Verizon | USA | Telecom | 72.3 | 16 | Agricultural Bank of China | China | Bank | 70.2 | 17 | Home Depot | USA | Retail | 65.1 | 18 | Toyota | Japan | Automobile | 64.7 | 19 | Bank of China | China | Bank | 63.8 | 20 | Moutai | China | Alcoholic Beverage | 58.4 |
