In the investigation into the Ahbap Association, Oğuzhan Uğur, who was detained and referred to court with a request for arrest, stated in his testimony to the prosecutor, "I have not engaged in any commercial activity or cooperation with either the association or Haluk Levent. No money entered my company accounts or personal accounts."
Oğuzhan Uğur, who was detained as part of the investigation into the Ahbap Association, was referred to the court with a request for arrest after his statement to the prosecutor. Uğur's statement to the prosecutor has emerged.
In his statement, Uğur, stating that he did not work closely with Haluk Levent, said, "Although I went to Hatay immediately after the earthquake as I described above, I did not work closely with Haluk Levent."
Here is Oğuzhan Uğur's statement to the prosecutor;
"I met Haluk Levent in 2018 through the program I hosted on Onedio called 'PİNÇ'. He was already a very famous and influential person at that time. He had a high impact on social media. He was also prominent with his activities related to the AHBAP Association. I did not contact him for a certain period after the program. In 2021, I was organizing a program regarding the social media law. I invited him to the program, and this was our second meeting. The program was broadcast with Haluk Levent's participation.
"HE ARRANGED OUR TRIP TO ADANA VIA AMBULANCE PLANE"
Our next meeting took place after the February 6 earthquake in 2023. We first spoke on the phone on the night of February 6. He likely saw that we were active on social media and told me that relief efforts could not be coordinated from Istanbul, and that we needed to go to ground zero to see the situation directly from Hatay. I told him we didn't have the means to go. Subsequently, he called me and arranged for us to travel to Adana via an ambulance plane. After arriving in Adana, we went to Hatay and met with Haluk Levent. Various relief activities were underway in Hatay. We conducted interviews with AFAD and AHBAP volunteers, but we couldn't upload the footage we shot due to lack of internet. Thinking we couldn't be of help there, we returned to Istanbul. Back in Istanbul, we continued broadcasting on Babala TV studios about earthquake aid and similar topics. We published account information containing IBAN details for both AHBAP and AFAD under the footage we shared. People who wanted to donate would call us to confirm the relevant IBAN information. Some of the callers only wanted to donate to AHBAP and specifically requested AHBAP's IBAN numbers. We directed those calling from abroad who wanted to help specifically to AFAD. We considered the possibility that the money sent might be illegal or similar. Taking this into account, we encouraged these people to donate directly to AFAD. Although it is claimed that we only promoted donations to AHBAP during that period, these claims are not true. We shared the IBAN numbers of the relevant institutions. We did not collect any donations through our own companies or personal accounts. We knew this was illegal.
"HE SAID 'YOU'RE SPEAKING ILL OF ME BEHIND MY BACK'"
After the earthquake period, my journalist friend Taha Hüseyin Karagöz, whom I knew from before, called me and said that Haluk Levent had been making various comments about me. Haluk Levent had apparently said I was portraying him as an opposition figure. However, he also stated that this wasn't actually the case. Upon this, I messaged Haluk Levent asking if such a situation existed. He said we needed to talk face to face. Subsequently, we spoke on the phone two more times. In one of the conversations, he told me, 'You're speaking ill of me behind my back.' I ended the call short. In our other conversation, he said he was releasing a song and asked for support. Apart from that, we had no other contact.
"SHE SAID SHE HAD SUSPICIONS ABOUT HALUK LEVENT"
Another journalist friend of mine, Cansu Şimşek, called me on February 27, 2023. She said she had various suspicions about Haluk Levent, was uncomfortable with the process, and was looking for documents to pursue the matter. At that time, frankly, Haluk Levent was seen as a helpful and somewhat 'heroic' figure. It wasn't possible to pursue the matter without any documents. I told her that I hadn't spoken to Haluk Levent for a while, and frankly, we decided to wait. The main breaking point for me was related to what I heard from my journalist friend. I had been hearing various rumors about Haluk Levent. However, when I personally experienced a similar situation, I cut off communication with him. This was a personal issue between Haluk Levent and me. Apart from that, when I personally went to Hatay, I saw that Ahbap was on the ground and carrying out various activities. Therefore, at a certain point, I separated the person from the organization. That's all there is to it regarding this matter."
