The new year has come with significant changes in many areas of life. As of January 1, regulations have been implemented in various fields, from electricity bills to the real estate sector, and the details of these changes have been shared with the public. NEW ERA IN ELECTRICITY BILLSThe regulation in electricity bills is coming into effect in the new year. A monthly consumption limit of 417 kilowatt-hours will now be set for subscribers. If this limit is exceeded, consumers will not receive support, and actual costs will be reflected in the bill. This change will lead to increased bills for those with high electricity consumption starting in February. However, mosques, cemevis, and AFAD shelter centers will be exempt from this regulation. RIGHT OF WITHDRAWAL IN DOOR-TO-DOOR SALESConsumers will be given the opportunity to exercise their right of withdrawal in sales made outside the workplace through methods such as text messages or emails. This regulation aims to strengthen consumer rights in door-to-door sales. MEAL CARD CALCULATION HAS CHANGEDEmployees' meal payments will no longer be limited to cash payments only. Payment methods such as cash, meal cards, or vouchers will be accepted. Additionally, the minimum wage formula previously used for calculating meal fees has been removed, and the daily meal fee will now be the basis for calculations. PLASTIC BAGS NOW 50 KURUSHWith the "Deposit Management System" implemented under the Zero Waste Project, packaging will be recycled. A deposit of 25 kurush will be paid per bottle or can. Additionally, the price of plastic bags used in shopping has been increased from 25 kurush to 50 kurush. VERIFIED LISTING PERIOD IN REAL ESTATEWith the new year, the Electronic Listing Verification System will come into effect. Those wishing to sell or rent their properties will select their real estate through e-Government and authorize their real estate agents. Real estate agents without an authorization certificate will not be able to post listings, and those who post listings without a certificate will face a fine of 25,000 TL. OLD ID CARDS WILL NOT BE USED IN LAND REGISTRY OFFICESAs of 2025, it will be prohibited to conduct transactions with old ID cards in land registry offices. Additionally, the use of physical tax stamps obtained when traveling abroad will come to an end. Tax stamps purchased until January 10 can still be used. DOUBLE SALARY IN PUBLIC SECTOR ENDS ON JANUARY 1The practice of double salaries in the public sector will be terminated. Public employees will now only be able to receive a salary from one source. Additionally, payments under the name of honorarium, salary, or bonus will not be made. REPORT CARDS FOR FIRST GRADERS ARE ELIMINATEDThe report card application for first-grade primary school students has also been abolished. Students will now receive a development report instead of a report card. NEW ERA FOR JEWELERSA new era is also beginning for jewelers. Identification will be mandatory for purchases exceeding 185,000 TL.
