In the Bekilli district of Denizli, it has been revealed that in a so-called shelter, where dogs were allegedly 'well taken care of' after being collected from the streets and where large amounts of donations were gathered from both abroad and within the country, the dogs were found to be eating each other due to starvation.
Images captured in a special living area created for dogs that were allegedly 'well cared for' after being collected from the streets of Bekilli district in Denizli revealed one of the most painful examples of abuse done in the name of animal love.
THEY ATE EACH OTHER OUT OF HUNGER In the video and images, it was seen that the animals were starved, sick, injured, and exhausted, that they were not treated, abandoned to die, that the bodies of dead animals were dismembered, and that the dismembered cats and dogs were fed to other cats and dogs. It was also observed that the bodies of dead cats and dogs were found under beds, that animal carcasses were thrown into open pits, and that sick chickens were force-fed to these animals without even plucking their feathers.
A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF DONATIONS COLLECTED Elçin Yasin Yılmaz, the President of the SOHAYKO Association, filed a formal complaint against the shelter owner G.E. along with the incoming images, witness statements, and documents. It was claimed that significant donations were collected from abroad, especially from Germany, for the so-called living area established for the proper care of the animals, but there are strong allegations and documents indicating that this money was not used for the care, treatment, and right to life of the animals.
"THIS WOMAN SHOULD BE PROHIBITED FROM TOUCHING ANIMALS" Yasin Yılmaz, the Association President, stated that the scene they encountered in the reports and images was heartbreaking, saying, "Incredible images and reports have come from Bekilli district of Denizli. In these reports, we saw that dead animals were eaten by other animals. Pits have been dug, and animals have been piled on top of each other, not even buried. It is clear that the animals are very sick and in very bad condition. We are making our complaints regarding this matter. We also request from our governor that this woman named Gülten be identified and that she be absolutely prohibited from keeping or touching animals. It is claimed that while the animals are in this condition, money is also being collected from abroad, from Germany and other countries. The animals are in a miserable and very bad state. We do not want to see these images anymore. We do not want to see them in municipal shelters or anywhere else. I am calling out to the relevant authorities from here. Did you not inspect this place until it got to this state? Did you not see anything? Did no one tell you anything? Why are you waiting until these places reach this condition?"
"WE WILL STRIVE FOR THEM TO RECEIVE THE HARSHEST PUNISHMENTS" Calling on volunteers to save the dying animals, Yılmaz said, "Please step up and do everything you can to save the animals here. When you see that the animals are being kept in a very bad way, please contact us. Our goal is to improve animal welfare. To ensure that animals live in much better conditions. I will follow this case to the end. We will strive for this person to receive the harshest punishments."
