A woman in Mersin claimed she was denied entry to a site pool because she was wearing a headscarf. In the footage captured on a mobile phone camera, the staff member stated that the ban was implemented in line with a unanimous decision made by the site management during a general assembly, while the woman reacted to the situation, arguing that she was not even allowed to go near her child.
An incident allegedly occurring at a pool in a complex in Mersin has sparked controversy. A woman wearing a headscarf claimed she was denied entry to the pool area due to a decision made by the complex management.
In footage recorded by the woman's mobile phone camera, her conversation with a staff member at the pool entrance was captured. In the footage, the woman argued that she was not allowed into the pool area because she was wearing a headscarf and was prevented from approaching her child.
"IS MY PASSAGE FORBIDDEN?"
In the footage, while the woman asked the staff member who imposed the ban, the staff member stated that the practice was a decision of the complex management. The woman asked, "A ban has been imposed by the complex management, is that correct, brother?", and the staff member replied, "That's correct, sister." When the woman asked, "Is my passage forbidden?", the staff member replied, "Yes, sister."
"MANAGEMENT'S DECISION"
The woman then asked for the reason behind the ban, and the staff member indicated that the practice was carried out in line with the decision made by the complex management. When the woman asked, "Who imposed this ban?", the staff member said, "The management, sister."
The woman then stated, "Due to a decision made by the management of Zafer Complex, our access to our child has been blocked. The clothing we are wearing is swimwear, a haşema worn by those who cover themselves, which is a type of swimwear. Our child is there right now, and we cannot reach them alone because the complex management does not allow it."
"DECISION MADE BY UNANIMOUS VOTE"
In the footage, the staff member said that the practice in question was a decision made unanimously at a general assembly meeting. Upon the staff member's words, "It's a decision made unanimously at a general assembly meeting, sister," the woman reacted by saying, "So it's a decision... This is an attack on human rights and freedoms." No official statement has yet been made by the complex management regarding the incident.
