A 4-year-old Syrian child trying to cross the road in Adana died after being hit by a pickup truck and then run over by a minibus. The pickup driver fled, while the minibus driver took the child to the hospital. Police detained both drivers. The horrific accident was captured on security camera.
A 4-year-old child lost his life after being hit by two vehicles in succession while trying to cross the road in Adana. The moment of the accident was recorded by security cameras in the area.
FIRST HIT BY A PICKUP TRUCK, THEN RUN OVER BY A MINIBUS
The accident occurred on Güneykuşak Boulevard in the Seyhan district. According to information received, while the traffic lights were green for vehicles, Syrian national Halil Süveyli (4), trying to cross the road, was first hit by a pickup truck with license plate 01 MC 0699 driven by Ali A., and then run over by a minibus with license plate 80 AFB 674 driven by Hacı Y. The child was seriously injured in the accident.
MINIBUS DRIVER TOOK HIM TO THE HOSPITAL
It was claimed that the pickup truck driver, alerted by nearby citizens, stopped his vehicle and fled the scene. The minibus driver, however, took the severely injured child in his arms, placed him in his vehicle, and drove him to Karşıyaka State Hospital.
HE LOST HIS LIFE
Police teams, who launched an investigation upon notification, caught the pickup truck driver Ali A., identified as having fled after the incident, at his hideout and took him into custody. Halil Süveyli, who was hospitalized for treatment, could not be saved. Subsequently, the minibus driver Hacı Y. was also taken into custody.
Mehmet Can, a shopkeeper in the area where the accident occurred, said, "While two children were crossing, the light turned green. Two vehicles ran over the child. The drivers realized the situation later. The driver of the second vehicle took the child to the hospital. Accidents keep happening here constantly."
Meanwhile, it was reported that Halil Süveyli's body was taken to the Adana Forensic Medicine Institute morgue for autopsy, and the investigation into the accident continues.
