In the Batıkent neighborhood of Yenimahalle, Ankara, 56-year-old Doğan Yavuz went to the workplace of tailor Aynur Ekici (49), whom he divorced in 2021, and fired 3 shots at his ex-wife, with whom he had been arguing. Ekici, who was hit by 2 bullets in the chest and 1 in the leg, lost her life; Yavuz also committed suicide with the same gun. It was learned that the couple had 2 daughters.
Doğan Yavuz, 56, went to the tailor shop where his ex-wife, whom he had divorced 5 years ago, worked in Ankara, and after shooting and killing his ex-wife Aynur Ekici (49) with a handgun, he committed suicide with the same weapon.
AN ARGUMENT BROKE OUT, 3 SHOTS FIRED
The incident occurred at around 13:00 on Başkent Boulevard in the Batıkent neighborhood of Yenimahalle district. According to information obtained, an argument broke out for an unknown reason between Aynur Ekici, who worked as a tailor, and her ex-husband Doğan Yavuz, who came to her workplace. During the argument, Yavuz fired 3 shots at Ekici. He then put the same gun to his head and fired.
Following reports from those around, numerous police and medical teams were dispatched to the area. Under the medical teams' examination, it was determined that Aynur Ekici, who was hit by 2 bullets in the chest and 1 in the leg, and Doğan Yavuz had lost their lives.
BOTH WERE TAILORS, THEY HAVE 2 DAUGHTERS
It was learned that Yavuz and Ekici, both of whom were tailors and had 2 daughters, divorced in 2021. The bodies were taken to the Ankara Forensic Medicine Institute for autopsy after the examination at the scene. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
