Horse and donkey meat (equine) was detected in sucuk (sausage) bearing the brand 'Kocaağa Çiftliği' belonging to Saffet Et Ürünleri, operating in Kırklareli. The address of the fraud did not stop there; equine meat was also found in tantuni, minced meat kavurma, and lahmacun filling in Mersin and Manisa.

The latest adulteration and food fraud list published by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has once again sent chills down the spine. Horse and donkey meat (equine) was detected in sausages belonging to Saffet Et Ürünleri. The scandal was not limited to sausages alone; in Mersin and Manisa, equine meat was also found in tantuni, minced meat kavurma, and lahmacun filling.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry has updated its disclosure list prepared to ensure food safety, to inform the public about those who play with citizens' health, and to expose companies engaged in imitation and adulteration. In the latest announcement, the scandalous frauds in various meat and meat products frequently preferred by consumers were once again brought to light.

"EQUINE MEAT" IN SAUSAGES EXPOSED

The company that attracted the most attention and reaction on the list was Saffet Et Ürünleri Sanayi Ticaret Limited Şirketi, operating in Lüleburgaz, Kırklareli. "Equine Meat" (horse, donkey) was detected in heat-treated sausage, baton sausage, and kangal sausage products marketed under the company's "Kocaağa Çiftliği" and "Salih Kocaağa Çiftliği" brands. The discovery of horse and donkey meat in numerous sausage products with different batch and serial numbers once again revealed the vital importance of food inspections.

  • Mersin (Akdeniz): Equine meat was detected in the minced meat kavurma of Saray Yemekçilik (Feridun İnce) company and in the cooked red meat tantuni of Gözde Tantuni (Rahime Şengül) establishment.
  • Manisa (Merkez): Equine meat was found in the raw lahmacun filling of Hüseyin Usta Menekşe (Tuncay Zor) establishment.
  • Mersin (Toroslar): In the product named "Honey Palace Epimedyumlu Macun" produced by Bioclass Bitkisel Ürünler (Mehmet Emin Kaya), a drug active substance threatening health was detected.

While necessary administrative and penal actions are being taken against these companies that disregard citizens' health and commit food adulteration, officials from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry announced that inspections at the provincial and district level will continue relentlessly.
