International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi has unveiled a formula regarding the enriched uranium stockpiles, the main sticking point in negotiations between the United States and Iran. Grossi stated that, in line with a proposal from Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Iran's enriched uranium stocks could be safely stored in Astana, and this plan might be acceptable to both Washington and Tehran.

Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi made notable remarks regarding Iran's enriched uranium stockpile, which remains a point of contention in negotiations between the US and Iran.

"IRAN'S ENRICHED URANIUM COULD BE STORED IN KAZAKHSTAN"

Speaking to the British press, Grossi stated that the materials, which Washington has repeatedly emphasized must be disposed of to achieve a comprehensive agreement between the parties, could be stored in Kazakhstan.

Grossi noted that Kazakhstan is ready to store Iran's stock of near weapons-grade enriched uranium in the event of an agreement between Washington and Tehran. He argued that the uranium could be securely held under Astana's hosting, saying, "We have a place where this (Iran's enriched uranium) can be safely stored."

"BOTH THE US AND IRAN COULD ACCEPT IT"

The IAEA chief expressed that the proposal was conveyed to him by Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev during a meeting held in Astana this week, and he believes this arrangement could be acceptable to both Iran and the US.

URANIUM STORAGE FACILITY IN KAZAKHSTAN

Kazakhstan is known to host an internationally supervised low-enriched uranium bank, aimed at securing fuel supply for power plants in IAEA member countries and preventing nuclear proliferation. The facility was opened in 2017 in cooperation with the IAEA.

The future of Iran's nuclear stockpile is expected to be determined through nuclear talks anticipated to follow the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the US and Iran.
