Millions of retirees are curious about the raise rate that will be finalized after the inflation data to be announced in July. While the Turkish Grand National Assembly is expected to go on recess on July 1, if an extraordinary meeting is not held, 2.5 million retirees with low base salaries will not receive any raise in July.
The eyes and ears of millions of retirees in Turkey are focused on the raise rate to be announced in July. The raise rate for SSK, Bağ-Kur, and pension fund members will be finalized with the inflation data to be announced by TÜİK on July 3.
NO RAISE FOR RETIREES IF THE PARLIAMENT DOES NOT MEET EXTRAORDINARILY
According to SGK regulations, the mentioned increase will only be valid for retirees' 'base salary'. While the Parliament is expected to go on vacation as of July 1, retirees receiving the currently determined lowest pension of 14,469 TL will effectively receive no raise in July if the Parliament does not meet extraordinarily.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Last year, due to the heavy agenda, the Grand National Assembly of Turkey went on vacation on July 31, 2024, and the proposal to raise the lowest pension to 12,500 TL was accepted in the General Assembly. However, in July 2023, the interim raise was only reflected in the base salaries, and no increase was made for the lowest pension.
