The Minister of National Education, Yusuf Tekin, announced during a call he received at the Ministry of National Education Communication Center that the Kurban Bayram holiday will not be extended.
The Minister of National Education, Tekin, continues his contacts in the Erciş district of Van. As part of his program, Minister Tekin visited the MEB Communication Center, where he met with call center staff and responded to incoming calls. During the visit, one citizen asked whether the upcoming Kurban Bayramı holiday would be extended. Personally answering the call, Minister Tekin stated that the holiday duration would remain as it is and made clear statements regarding the matter.
"EXTENDING THE HOLIDAY IS NOT POSSIBLE"
In response to the citizen on the other end of the phone who said, "We are hoping for a last-minute holiday," Minister Tekin replied:
"According to our regulations, our children need to attend school for 180 working days a year. If we take a holiday now, we lose the opportunity to complete this period. This means that students will not be able to make up for some lessons. Therefore, both legally and pedagogically, it is not possible for us to extend the holiday duration this year," he said.
"OUR HOLIDAY WILL END ON THE 4TH DAY OF THE FESTIVAL"
Addressing suggestions on social media such as "Take a week off early, make up in September," Minister Tekin stated, "These suggestions sound nice, but if a unit is missed in the 9th grade, it cannot be completed when the student moves to the 10th grade. Similarly, this situation cannot be compensated for students who will graduate. Therefore, the holiday will not be extended. Our holiday will end on the 4th day of the festival, inshallah," he said.
After visiting the MEB Communication Center, Minister Tekin moved on to the Erciş Teacher's House.
