Four customs officials were detained for smuggling products such as perfume, glasses, and shoes out of the customs area at Istanbul Airport and putting them on the market. In the footage that emerged, the personnel were seen popping champagne.
As part of the investigation conducted under the coordination of the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the teams of the Smuggling Crimes Combat Department monitored 4 customs personnel working at Istanbul Airport. The investigations revealed that the suspects used the opportunities provided by their duties to illegally sell products that they had taken out of the customs area.
A LARGE NUMBER OF SMUGGLED PRODUCTS SEIZED
In operations carried out at 5 different addresses targeting the suspects, a large number of smuggled products were seized. The searches uncovered 90 packs of cigarettes, 83 perfumes, 77 glasses, 33 pairs of shoes, various shawls and bags, 21 bottles of alcoholic beverages, 2 headsets, and a wristwatch belonging to a famous brand. It was learned that the 4 suspects detained during the operation are still undergoing processing at the police station.

Meanwhile, moments when the suspects opened bottles of alcohol found in boxes in the customs area and entertained themselves were recorded by security cameras.
