Security camera footage has emerged regarding the brutal incident in Zonguldak, where a grandmother and her two grandchildren were stabbed to death while returning from a village wedding. The footage shows a mix of mutual insults and screams, with the incident lasting less than 3 minutes.
A massacre occurred in the village of Köroğlu, connected to the center of Zonguldak, on July 21 last year. A month before the massacre, E.K., the brother of Ediz Köroğlu, was beaten by Halil Can (24) and Emirkan Köroğlu (18) brothers and some relatives at the village coffee house. This led to a feud between the two families.
GRANDMOTHER AND GRANDCHILDREN KILLED WITH A KNIFE
On the night of the incident, a dispute broke out when the Köroğlu brothers, who attended a street wedding in the village, encountered Erdeniz Köroğlu on their way back. Erdeniz Köroğlu attacked the two brothers with a knife. During this time, Nazmiye Köroğlu (75), who was trying to protect her grandchildren, was also injured by knife blows.
Upon the villagers' notification to the 112 Emergency Call Center, gendarmerie and medical teams were dispatched to the scene. The grandmother and her 2 grandchildren, who were wanted to be taken to the hospital by their relatives in a private vehicle, were handed over to the medical teams on the way. The injured were taken to Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University Hospital and Atatürk State Hospital by ambulance, but could not be saved. After the incident, Erdeniz Köroğlu, who returned to his home, was caught and arrested by the court.
ONE REQUEST FOR AGGRAVATED LIFE IMPRISONMENT
A case was opened against Erdeniz Köroğlu for 'intentional murder against a woman' towards Nazmiye Köroğlu, requesting aggravated life imprisonment, and for 'intentional murder' against the brothers, requesting life imprisonment separately.
MURDER MOMENTS ON CAMERA
Footage from the security camera installed at the defendant's house was also included in the court file. The footage showed the parties cursing and insulting each other from a distance. It was seen that Erdeniz Köroğlu, who approached Halil Can Köroğlu, strangled him, and they both fell to the ground, where the defendant stabbed Halil Can Köroğlu. The footage also showed Halil Can Köroğlu retreating, and later, some women and men from the crowd that arrived at the scene attempted to approach the defendant Erdeniz Köroğlu to take the knife and hit him. During this time, it was seen that Nazmiye Köroğlu and her grandson Emirkan Köroğlu were also stabbed. Emirkan Köroğlu was seen bending his neck to look at the wound he received, while Nazmiye Köroğlu was seen holding her left side and moving away.
LASTED 3 MINUTES
The footage, where screams mixed together, showed that the incident lasted less than 3 minutes. Meanwhile, it was also captured in the camera footage that the defendant Erdeniz Köroğlu returned to his house when those who attacked him had left.
The trial of the defendant Erdeniz Köroğlu at the Zonguldak 2nd Heavy Penal Court is ongoing.
