In a fight that broke out in the parking lot of a site in Esenler, 19-year-old Umut Özacar was shot and killed by his rivals. Three suspects related to the incident were arrested, and footage of the fight recorded by security cameras was released.
SHOT AND KILLED IN THE SITE'S PARKING LOT
The incident occurred in the parking lot of the site in the Airport Neighborhood around 23:55 on March 24. According to allegations, Umut Özacar started to fight with Hasan İ., with whom he had a previous feud. The fight escalated when H.İ. returned with his friends K.G. (18) and A.A. (17) after a while. During the scuffle, Umut Özacar was shot and seriously injured. Health teams determined that Umut Özacar had died during their examination.
As a result of police work, the suspects Hasan İ., K.G., and A.A., who was identified as the one who used the weapon, were caught with the crime weapon. It was learned that the suspects, who were taken into custody, would be referred to the courthouse for the crime of 'intentional murder' after their procedures at the police station. The autopsy procedures for Özacar were completed at the Forensic Medicine Institution, and he was buried on March 25 at the Yeni Bahçeköy Cemetery.
NEW FOOTAGE EMERGED
After the incident, Hasan İ., K.G., and A.A. were arrested by the court and sent to prison. Footage of the suspects running out of the parking lot after the armed fight was released.
"HE FIRED A SHOT AT UMUT'S BACK"
Umut Özacar's friend, witness M.A.B., stated in his testimony at the police station: "On the day of the incident, around 22:40, we met at a motorcycle repair shop in Turgut Reis Neighborhood. Then we went to a barber on Barbaros Street with my motorcycle. Umut talked to a person I didn't know here. Later, we set off to go to the house of someone named Furkan, whom he referred to as 'bro.' When we arrived at the parking lot, we encountered Hasan İ., whom I didn't know at the time and later learned his name due to the incident. They argued and fought among themselves.
During the argument, Umut said, 'record us on camera.' I recorded it with my own phone. During this fight, they were punching each other, and they did not use any knives or weapons. I did not get involved in their fight. When Umut stopped beating Hasan, we left and went to Furkan's house. While we were sitting at home, someone I didn't know called Umut's phone and said, 'come pull the motorcycle.' So we went downstairs together to pull my motorcycle. When we got to the motorcycle, three people, one of whom was Hasan İ., surrounded us. At first, they argued with Umut.
Then they started to fight. While I was trying to separate them, I got punched in the face, but I kept trying to intervene. Then a person named A.A. pulled out a gun from his waist and fired a shot into the air. When I saw the gun, I ran away and hid behind a column. Later, the other two held Umut and threw him to the ground, and Umut fell face down. A.A. fired a shot at Umut's back. Umut then got up and punched one of them, but I don't know which one. After A.A. fired again, they ran away. When I went to Umut, I saw a knife near his pocket on the ground, but I hadn't seen him use it during the incident."
