In an operation carried out by the Customs Protection teams of the Ministry of Trade in 11 provinces, 50 luxury vehicles with a market value of approximately 540 million lira were seized. According to a written statement from the Ministry, the teams meticulously conducted risk analysis studies, primarily at the Sarp, Kapıkule, and İpsala customs gates. As a result of the inspections, the teams queried suspicious individuals and vehicles in the Ministry's systems. As a result of the inquiries, it was determined that luxury vehicles temporarily brought into the country with tourist facilities were left within the country, and the individuals exited the country without a declaration. Additionally, it was found that some individuals attempted to benefit from the exemptions provided by temporary importation by falsely presenting that the necessary conditions were met to bring vehicles. In this context, 50 luxury vehicles with a market value of approximately 540 million lira, which were brought into the country by abusing the temporary import regime and used unlawfully, were seized in 11 provinces. An investigation regarding the incident is ongoing at the Hopa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. The fight against illegal activities, particularly against vehicles and suspects identified as having entered the country with false documents, threatening social welfare and the national economy through tax evasion, continues unabated.
