The Ankara Metropolitan Municipality will start metrobus services on three routes in the capital. One metrobus has begun to be used for testing purposes, and it has been stated that the vehicles will have a capacity of at least 270 passengers.
The EGO General Directorate in Ankara will add new generation metrobuses to its fleet to improve the quality of urban transportation in the capital and reduce traffic congestion.
METROBUSES WILL OPERATE IN ANKARA
According to a statement from the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality (ABB), the new metrobuses will be articulated, 25 meters long, with a capacity of at least 270 passengers, 29 seating places, and 2 wheelchair compartments.
The metrobuses, equipped with features such as fully automatic transmission, air-conditioned driver and passenger cabins, USB charging points, passenger information screens, digital route signs, camera-assisted side mirrors, fire extinguishing systems, and emergency evacuation systems, are receiving technical and driving training for EGO personnel. Thanks to the training, drivers will specialize in effective use of the vehicles.
THREE ROUTES WILL BE SCHEDULED
Feasibility studies are ongoing for the metrobuses planned to operate under EGO on three routes. The three separate routes will be "Yenikent-Ulus-Karapürçek", "Yıldırım Beyazıt University-Protokol Road-Konya Road-Ankara University Gölbaşı Campus", and "Yıldırım Beyazıt University-Ovacık Neighborhood-Etlik Street-Ankara University Gölbaşı Campus".
On the other hand, 1 metrobüs is being used on the boulevards and streets of Ankara for test driving and route experience purposes.
