The suspects took cigarettes worth approximately 250,000 TL in about 3 minutes and fled in the same vehicle. The shouts of neighborhood residents who ran toward the alarm did not stop the thieves; the incident was captured second by second on security cameras.
In Istanbul's Esenyurt district, thieves pulled a minibus up to the entrance and broke the shutter and door to get inside a market, stealing cigarettes worth approximately 250,000 TL in about 3 minutes and fleeing. It was determined that the vehicle used by the suspects was also stolen, while the incident was captured on camera second by second.
THEY CAME IN A MINIBUS AND BROKE THE SHUTTER
The incident occurred around 07:00 in the morning in Balıkyolu Neighborhood of Esenyurt district. According to the information obtained, 6 individuals came in a minibus to a market they had previously scouted. The individuals got out of the vehicle they had pulled up to the market entrance and quickly broke the shutter and door and went inside. The individuals stole cigarettes worth approximately 250,000 TL in about 3 minutes and fled in the vehicle they had come in.
When the alarm went off during the robbery, nearby citizens shouted and tried to intervene against the thieves. Minutes after the incident, the business owner arrived at the workplace and reported the situation to the police, and an investigation was launched into the incident. It was learned that the vehicle used in the robbery was stolen.
AS IF THEY WERE ENTERING THEIR OWN HOME
Neighborhood resident Bülent Engin, who witnessed the theft, said, "It was an incident that unfolded between 07:00 and 07:20 in the morning. While people were coming from the mosque after the morning prayer, they saw a white minibus pull up here. They forced the door, and when they couldn't open it, they removed the door's shutter with a crowbar they had. When they couldn't open the window, they hit the window with the crowbar. When they couldn't break the window either, they completely broke the door. I rushed outside due to the noise, we shouted, but they acted as if they didn't hear us. They caused 250,000 to 350,000 TL in damage and left comfortably, as if they were entering their own home," he said.
