According to information obtained by AA correspondent, the prosecution has requested an 8-month suspended prison sentence and a fine of 4,000 euros for Burgat.
The prosecution also requested a ban on Burgat from making posts on his X account for 6 months.
During the hearing, Burgat stated that he never congratulated Hamas for the events that occurred on October 7, 2023, and expressed that, considering the situation in the region, he trusted Hamas's narratives more regarding the events at that time.
The court will announce its decision in Burgat's case on May 28.
BECAME A TARGET OF THE JEWISH ORGANIZATION
Burgat was detained on July 9, 2024, in Aix-en-Provence on charges of "terrorist propaganda" following a complaint from the European Jewish Organization regarding his social media posts about Israel's attacks on Gaza on January 2, 2024, and was released the same day.
