In the operation against ISIS conducted in Izmir, 11 out of 13 suspects were arrested. During the operation, 1.3 million lira and gold were seized, while 2 suspects were released and will be deported.
Thirteen suspects were detained in an operation against the terrorist organization ISIS in İzmir. Eleven of the detained individuals were arrested.
The İzmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office Terror Crimes Investigation Bureau initiated an investigation against the suspects identified as conducting activities on behalf of the terrorist organization ISIS.
13 SUSPECTS DETAINED
On Tuesday, police teams conducted an operation to capture 15 suspects, 12 of whom are Syrian nationals, who were determined to have operated in conflict zones on behalf of ISIS, made propaganda for the organization on social media, and collected funds for ISIS. Thirteen suspects were captured and detained during the raids on the identified addresses.
During the searches at the addresses, 1 million 316 thousand 110 lira, a quantity of gold, and a large number of digital materials were seized.
11 PEOPLE ARRESTED
After the procedures at the police station, 11 of the 13 suspects sent to the courthouse were arrested. Two Syrian nationals, who were released after their statements were taken at the prosecutor's office, were handed over to the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management's Removal Center to be deported. It was reported that search efforts are ongoing for 2 suspects who have not yet been captured in connection with the operation.
