A Russian citizen who killed 3 people in Danilovgrad, in central Montenegro, opened fire on security forces during a police raid and then committed suicide, it was reported.

Montenegro Police Director Lazar Scepanovic, in a statement to the press, shared the information that Mihail Nikolajevic Sabunjin, identified as a Russian citizen, killed 3 Montenegrins during the night.

ATTACKER COMMITTED SUICIDE

Scepanovic stated that the attacker took the car of one of the people he killed and fled the scene, and noted that the suspect later went to the city of Herceg Novi by taxi.

Scepanovic said that after locating him, during a raid by special forces in a forested area, the attacker first opened fire on security forces and then shot himself, committing suicide.

NATIONAL MOURNING DECLARED

In a statement from the police, it was stated that the investigation at the scene continues and an investigation has been launched into why the attack was carried out.

Montenegrin President Jakov Milatovic expressed his deep sorrow over the events and conveyed his condolences to the relatives of those who lost their lives.
