In the case of university student Ayşe Tokyaz, who was killed by former police officer Cemil Koç in Küçükçekmece and whose body was left in a suitcase by the roadside, the detained defendant Cemil Koç said, "The suitcase was full, I emptied it, I put Ayşe in the suitcase." The court postponed the hearing to tomorrow for the continuation of the defenses.

On July 11 in Küçükçekmece, the suspect Cemil Koç (38), among 9 defendants, appeared before the judge for the first time regarding the murder of 22-year-old university student Ayşe Tokyaz, who was killed by former police officer Cemil Koç and whose body was placed in a suitcase and left by the roadside in Eyüpsultan. In the hearing held at the Küçükçekmece 2nd Heavy Criminal Court, 9 detained defendants, including Cemil Koç, and the complainants, twin sister Esra and mother Halime Tokyaz, along with the parties' lawyers, were present.

DEFENDANT CEMIL KOÇ MADE A DEFENSE

After the break, the case continued with the defense of the suspect Cemil Koç. The defendant Koç, whose identity was established in court, stated that he was single, had one child, had one criminal record, and his monthly income was between 60-80 thousand. Furthermore, Koç mentioned that his profession was a software developer.

"THE SUITCASE WAS FULL, I EMPTIED IT, I PUT AYŞE IN THE SUITCASE"

After the identity verification, the defendant Koç, who was making his defense, said, "I did not have a lawyer. I did not review the file. I am the only guilty one in this file, no one else is at fault. I can only talk about the people who are defendants besides me. I do not want to talk about other matters. In general, I did not kill Ayşe. I will prove this. I am repeating the statement I gave during the investigation phase. No one is at fault in this file. I do not know the other defendants except for a few people. I do not want to make a defense regarding before her death. I want to explain the process after her death. After her death, I called someone named Uğur. When he came, the suitcase was full, I emptied it. I put Ayşe in the suitcase. Uğur did not see this. Later, Uğur got suspicious about something and ran away. After the incident, I was scared and thought I should have someone with me due to the fear of being caught. I had a situation to borrow money from Uğur in 2025. I borrowed money because I needed around 70-80 thousand. I have 18-20 phone lines. I used them in various tasks, they are clean, I only actively use one line," he stated.

HE DESCRIBED HIS DIALOGUE WITH THE TAXI DRIVER

Continuing his defense, Koç said, "We went to buy a car with Uğur, and we stopped at a gas station. When I panicked on the road, Uğur understood the situation. He tried to get me to talk. Uğur did not have any acquaintance with Ayşe. After the incident, I took a few tank tops with me just in case I got caught. I am told that blood got on me, this is a normal thing for the day," he said.

TENSION ARISES IN THE COURTROOM

While the defendant was making his defense, Esra Tokyaz said to the defendant, "You are lying, you are incompetent." Upon this, the defendant Cemil Koç swore at Esra Tokyaz, leading to tension in the courtroom. Cemil Koç was removed from the courtroom under the escort of gendarmerie.

After a while, the defendant Koç was brought back to the courtroom and continued his defense, saying, "I gave the suitcase to the taxi driver Necmettin. While giving it, I said you might think there is something like a historical artifact inside. I told him not to look inside and that I would come to collect the suitcase. Necmettin and I agreed on a fee between 400-500 thousand lira for this job. I have no problem with money. I will explain my detailed defense regarding the murder when I review the file. I will prove that I did not commit this crime," he said.

"AFTER AYŞE DIED, HER MOTHER CALLED ME AND ASKED ME TO FIND HER DAUGHTER"

After his defense, the defendant Cemil Koç turned to the complainant Esra Tokyaz and said, "Your power has diminished a lot." The lawyers calmed Tokyaz, who reacted to these words. In the continuation of his defense, the defendant Koç stated, "I met Ayşe Tokyaz through a site called Sarmaş Dolaş."

The presiding judge asked the defendant to whom the Georgia line registered with a smiley emoji on his phone belonged. The defendant replied that he did not remember to whom this line belonged, saying, "After Ayşe died, her mother Halime Tokyaz called me and asked me to find her daughter. I said I would do my best," he stated. The presiding judge also asked the defendant whether he was involved in prostitution. The defendant replied, "I am a wealthy person, I have nothing to do with such things."
