As Turkey is affected by a cold wave coming from Russia and the Balkans, heavy snowfall, which is increasing in many regions, has negatively impacted daily life. Due to adverse weather conditions, education has been suspended today in some provinces, and reports of snow days have been coming in from many parts of the country for Tuesday, December 30th.

Due to the ongoing snowfall across Turkey, it was announced that education would be suspended for 1 day in many provinces on Monday, December 29.

Following the heavy snowfall continuing in the city center and districts, some provincial governorships began to announce snow holidays for Tuesday, December 30.

Here is the list of provinces with snow holidays on Tuesday, December 30, 2025;

ARTVIN

It was reported that education was suspended for 1 day in the Şavşat district of Artvin due to snow, frost, and icing.

In a statement from the Şavşat District Governorship, it was noted that the snow and cold weather, which started in the evening hours and is expected to continue until noon tomorrow, could lead to frost and icing, particularly causing disruptions in transportation.

In this context, it was recorded that education and training would be suspended for 1 day in all educational institutions in the district on Tuesday, December 30.

Additionally, it was stated that personnel with disabilities and chronic illnesses, as well as pregnant women working in public institutions, would also be considered on administrative leave on the same day.

HAKKARİ

The Hakkari Governorship announced that education would be suspended across the city tomorrow due to adverse weather conditions.

In a statement made on the governorship's social media account, it was stated that according to meteorological assessments, the snowfall that has been ongoing for 2 days in the province would continue, and the risk of icing and frost would increase with the drop in temperature.

To prevent possible adverse situations and ensure the safety of citizens and students, it was mentioned that some measures had been taken, and the following was recorded:

"Due to the heavy snowfall and risk of icing, education has been suspended for 1 day in all public and private educational institutions across the province on Tuesday, December 30, 2025. Additionally, considering the risks that students with appointments at Guidance and Research Centers (RAM) and individuals with disabilities may face during transportation, it was deemed appropriate to suspend services at RAMs on the same date to ensure their safety."

The statement also indicated that public officials with chronic illnesses such as pregnancy, disabilities, dialysis patients, heart and kidney failure, cancer, and those with children aged 0-12 would have one parent considered on administrative leave.

VAN

Schools in Van were closed for 1 day due to adverse weather conditions.

In a statement from the Van Governorship, it was said, "As a result of evaluations made with our Meteorology Regional Directorate, due to the ongoing heavy snowfall, icing, and fog in Van, education and training will be suspended for 1 (one) day on December 30, 2025 (tomorrow) in all formal and non-formal educational institutions (including RAM, Public Education Centers, Family Support Centers, and Rehabilitation Centers) across our province. Our personnel with disabilities and pregnant women working in public institutions will be considered on administrative leave. Mothers working in public institutions with children aged 0-6 will also be considered on administrative leave."

KASTAMONU

In Kastamonu, education was suspended for 1 day in all levels in 8 districts, and for transportation education in 3 districts.

Due to snowfall and adverse weather conditions in Kastamonu, it was announced that schools at all levels in the districts of Merkez, İnebolu, Ağlı, Şenpazar, Küre, Seydiler, Daday, and Azdavay would be closed, while transportation education would be suspended for one day in the districts of Abana and Cide. Additionally, due to heavy snowfall in the Bozkurt district and potential adverse conditions, transportation education and education for students who are boarding and on leave would be suspended on Tuesday, December 30, and Wednesday, December 31.

It was announced that individuals with disabilities and pregnant women working in public institutions in the districts where schools are closed would also be considered on administrative leave.

ZONGULDAK

The Zonguldak Governorship announced that education would be suspended for 1 day for students in transportation education due to the storm and snowfall affecting the city.

In a notice published with the signature of Zonguldak Governor Osman Hacıbektaşoğlu, it was reported that a precautionary decision was made considering meteorological data and current weather conditions. It was stated that the holiday decision would be valid on Tuesday, December 30, 2025. According to the decision; education and training would be suspended for 1 day in schools at the special education, primary, secondary, and high school levels that fall under the "Transportation Education" category across the province.

Governor Hacıbektaşoğlu also made warnings to citizens, stating, "I kindly ask our citizens to be careful and cautious, and to avoid using their private vehicles unless absolutely necessary."

DÜZCE

Schools in the Kaynaşlı and Yığılca districts of Düzce were closed on Tuesday, December 30, due to snowfall.

In a statement shared on social media accounts by the Yığılca and Kaynaşlı District Governorships, it was stated, "Due to the ongoing heavy snowfall and adverse weather conditions across our district, there is a risk of icing on the roads. Considering the potential disruptions in transportation, the safety of our students and personnel must be prioritized. In this context, it has been decided to suspend education for 1 day in all public and private educational institutions, kindergartens, and preschool education institutions under the Ministry of National Education on Tuesday, December 30. Additionally, public officials who are pregnant, disabled, dialysis patients, or have chronic illnesses such as heart and kidney failure, cancer, and those with children aged 0-12 will also be considered on administrative leave on Tuesday, December 30."

SAKARYA

In Sakarya, schools in 3 districts were closed for one day due to heavy snowfall as a result of decisions made by the district governorships.

The snowfall that started in the high areas of Sakarya during the night and adverse weather conditions also affected education.

Karasu, Hendek, and Akyazı District Governorships announced that due to possible disruptions in transportation, some schools and transportation education will be suspended for 1 day. In this decision, transportation education will be suspended for 1 day in 78 schools located in Akyazı district, while schools will be closed for students receiving transportation education in the primary and secondary schools in the neighborhoods of Kurudere, Yassıgeçit, and Kızılcık in Karasu district. In Hendek, education will be suspended for 1 day in 4 neighborhoods, while schools will be closed for primary and secondary education students receiving transportation education in 18 neighborhoods.



ELAZIĞ

Due to the expected heavy snowfall and icing in Elazığ, education has been suspended for 2 more days.

Governor Numan Hatipoğlu stated on his social media account that according to meteorological data, extreme icing is expected on Tuesday, December 30, and heavy snowfall on Wednesday, December 31.

Hatipoğlu noted in his statement: "Dear students, valued parents, extreme icing is expected throughout our province on December 30, and heavy snowfall is anticipated on December 31. Therefore, education and teaching in our schools have been suspended on December 30 and 31. Please do not see this as a gap and make good use of these two days. Our disabled staff and pregnant employees will also be considered on leave."

In a statement from the Diyarbakır Governorship, it was stated, "Due to the ongoing snowfall, icing, and freezing events throughout our province; in order to ensure the safety of our citizens and students, education has been suspended for 1 day in all official and private educational institutions across the province on Tuesday, December 30, 2025. On the same day, pregnant and disabled public personnel will be considered on administrative leave."

MARDİN

In Mardin, due to the ongoing snowfall and freezing cold, the governorship announced that the break in education has been extended for one more day.

The Mardin Governorship made a new statement following warnings of freezing cold and icing from meteorology, aiming to protect citizens' safety. As a result of evaluations, the break in education in all schools across the province has been extended to include Tuesday, December 30. The statement said, "In Mardin, necessary measures are being taken to ensure that our citizens do not experience any problems, especially in transportation, due to the ongoing snowfall and the risk of icing that may occur afterward. According to meteorological evaluations, icing and cold weather conditions are expected to continue to affect our province. In this context, education and teaching in all educational institutions across Mardin will be suspended for 1 day on Tuesday, December 30, 2025. Additionally, disabled personnel, employees with chronic illnesses, and pregnant personnel working in public institutions will also be considered on administrative leave on the same day."

MARDİN ARTUKLU UNIVERSITY ALSO SUSPENDED

Mardin Artuklu University has suspended education for 2 days due to the effective snowfall and adverse weather conditions in the city.

In a statement made on the university's social media account, it was reported that education has been suspended on December 30 and 31 in all campuses of Mardin Artuklu University in accordance with the decision made by the university's Senate due to adverse weather conditions.

The statement noted that disabled personnel, those with chronic illnesses, and pregnant staff will also be considered on administrative leave.

KARABÜK

In Karabük, schools were closed on Tuesday due to effective snowfall.

Karabük Governor Mustafa Yavuz announced that all types and levels of schools across the province have been closed for 1 day. Yavuz stated, "Due to the ongoing heavy snowfall and adverse weather conditions throughout our province; on Tuesday, December 30,

all types and levels of official and private formal and non-formal educational institutions, special education and rehabilitation centers, special education courses, and public education centers in Karabük province will suspend education and teaching for 1 day. Additionally, pregnant personnel and personnel with special needs working in public institutions will also be considered on administrative leave on the same day."

LESSONS AT KARABÜK UNIVERSITY ALSO STOPPED

At Karabük University (KBÜ), education has also been suspended for tomorrow due to adverse weather conditions.

KBÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Fatih Kırışık announced on his social media account that education and teaching will be suspended tomorrow in the central campus and all units in the districts due to heavy snowfall, and the planned final exams have also been postponed.

Kırışık noted that the postponed exams will be held on dates to be determined later.

Due to the ongoing heavy snowfall and icing throughout Bolu, education will also be suspended tomorrow.

In a statement from the Bolu Governorship, it was reported that education and teaching have been suspended on Tuesday, December 30, in all official and private educational institutions (including rehabilitation centers, motor vehicle driver courses, and Quran courses).

It was stated in the announcement that pregnant and disabled personnel working in public institutions, as well as female personnel whose children attend daycare, kindergarten, and special education institutions, will also be considered on administrative leave on the same day, and the situation of personnel working in units providing services on a 24-hour basis, especially health and security units, will be evaluated by the relevant unit managers.

In a statement from Abant Izzet Baysal University (BAİBÜ), it was noted that education and teaching will be suspended tomorrow due to the ongoing heavy snowfall, icing, and adverse weather conditions in the city.

It was stated that all personnel working at the university will be considered on administrative leave on the same day, and in order to ensure the continuity of service, academic and administrative managers, as well as health, security, and cleaning personnel, will continue their duties.

The Batman Governorship announced on Tuesday that schools have been closed.

In a statement from the Batman Governorship, it was said, "Due to the ongoing snowfall across our province, and the expectation of further drops in temperatures from the night hours, along with meteorological assessments indicating an increased risk of icing and freezing, education will be suspended for 1 day in all official and private educational institutions across Batman province on Tuesday, December 30. Additionally, public personnel who are disabled, have chronic illnesses, or are pregnant will be considered on administrative leave on the same day. We kindly ask our citizens to be careful and take precautions against icing, freezing, and adverse weather conditions."

From the Siirt Governorship, it was reported that measures have been taken to ensure the safety of citizens and students due to the heavy snowfall, icing, and adverse weather conditions affecting the entire province, in line with meteorological assessments. The statement included, "In this context, education will be suspended for 1 day in all formal and non-formal educational institutions, as well as private kindergartens, day care centers, and rehabilitation centers across our province on Tuesday, December 30. Due to the adverse weather conditions, heavy snowfall, and to ensure traffic safety, the use of all types of motorcycle vehicles and couriers in the city center of Siirt has been prohibited until further notice. Additionally, female public employees with children attending kindergarten and preschool, as well as disabled, handicapped, and pregnant public personnel will be considered on administrative leave. We strongly request our citizens to be careful and take precautions against icing, freezing, and adverse weather conditions, and to avoid using private vehicles unless absolutely necessary."
