During a DEAŞ operation conducted by police teams in Yalova, a conflict broke out when the suspects opened fire on the police. Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya stated, "Our police were fired upon during the operation. Three of our heroic police officers have been martyred. Eight of our police officers and one security guard have been injured. Six terrorists have been neutralized."
Security forces conducted an operation against the terrorist organization ISIS at a location in Yalova. A clash broke out between our heroic police and ISIS terrorists during the operation at a house in Elmalık village. Minister Ali Yerlikaya made statements regarding the details of the operation.
3 OF OUR POLICE MARTYRED
Regarding the 8-hour operation, Interior Minister Yerlikaya stated, "One of the operations took place in Yalova. Our police were fired upon during the operation at an address in İsmetpaşa neighborhood. Unfortunately, 3 of our heroic police have been martyred. 8 of our police and 1 watchman have been injured."
6 TERRORISTS KILLED
Minister Yerlikaya continued his statement by informing that 6 ISIS terrorists were killed during the operation.
Highlights from Yerlikaya's statements are as follows:
"Our struggle against terrorist organizations that aim to exploit our faith and legitimize violence, targeting the peace of our nation and public order, continues resolutely today as it did yesterday. In this context; within the last month, 138 suspects have been arrested in operations against the ISIS terrorist organization, and judicial control measures have been applied to 97 suspects. As a continuation of this determination; simultaneous operations were conducted this morning at 108 different addresses in 15 of our provinces.
One of these operations took place at 02:00 in Yalova. Our heroic police were fired upon during the operation in İsmetpaşa Neighborhood. Unfortunately, 3 of our heroic police have been martyred in this operation, and 8 of our police and 1 watchman have been injured. Due to the presence of women and children in the house where the terrorists were located, the operation was carried out with great sensitivity. 5 women and 6 children present at the address were safely evacuated. 6 terrorists were killed. These terrorists are Turkish citizens. The operation was completed at 09:40."

"Those who target our peace and security in these lands always find our security forces, who write epics with their courage and sacrifice, against them. Our martyrs have given their lives for the peace and security of our noble nation. They are our heroes who walked to martyrdom while performing their duty. I pray for God's mercy upon our martyred police officers, and I extend my condolences to their grieving families, our security organization, and our esteemed nation. May the ranks of our martyrs be elevated. I wish a speedy recovery to our injured police officers and watchman who are still receiving treatment."
IDENTITIES OF MARTYRED POLICE OFFICERS REVEALED
In the clash where the terrorists opened fire, police officers Yasin Koçyiğit, Turgut Külüş, and İlker Pehlivan, who were on duty under the Yalova Provincial Police Department, were martyred. Injured police officers Zekeriya Kınalı, Eren Çelik, Eren Işık Cihan Kadıoğlu, Yusuf Irak, and Akşemsettin Temel were taken to Yalova State Hospital for treatment.
6 terrorists, including Zafer Umutlu and Haşem Sordabak, were neutralized.
Teams from the Yalova Provincial Police Department, the Bursa Provincial Police Department Special Operations Branch, and 1 Commando Team, 2 Cobra helicopters, and 1 Shorland armored vehicle from the Yalova Provincial Gendarmerie Command were dispatched to the scene.
