Beşiktaş Fibabanka started the derby effectively, leading 10-1 by the 3rd minute with baskets from the paint. The black-and-whites continued to score against Galatasaray, who made turnovers, and increased the lead to 14 points by the 4th minute: 15-1. Against a yellow-red team that couldn't find its rhythm in both aspects of the game, Beşiktaş, scoring with Mathews, finished the 6th minute with a 24-6 lead. Galatasaray, who regrouped in the middle of the quarter, reduced the gap to 6 points with a 12-0 run from baskets found under the basket: 24-18. The black-and-whites completed the first quarter ahead 26-21.
Against Beşiktaş, who lost their offensive tempo, Galatasaray, scoring with Cummings, took the lead by the 12th minute: 26-28. The black-and-white team, who took the lead by scoring consecutively with Sleva and Berk İbrahim Uğurlu, increased the gap to 7 points by the 14th minute: 35-28. The second part of the quarter saw mutual baskets, while Beşiktaş went into halftime with a 46-40 lead in the derby.
Beşiktaş also started the second half effectively, supported by their fans. Against Galatasaray, who made consecutive turnovers, the black-and-white team scored with their shorter players and opened the gap again by the 26th minute: 61-44. Beşiktaş went into the final period with a 20-point advantage against the yellow-red team: 71-51.
In the last quarter, Beşiktaş maintained their scoring and game superiority, defeating Galatasaray 91-75 in the derby match.
The second match of the series, where the team that reaches two victories will write its name in the semi-finals, will be played on Sunday, June 1, hosted by Galatasaray at the Basketball Development Center.
On the other hand, national basketball player Alperen Şengün, who plays for the Houston Rockets in the NBA, also watched the derby from the stands.
