In Izmir, following the yellow-coded rainfall warning from the Meteorology, thunderstorms and heavy downpours have been affecting the area since last night. In Çeşme, the sea and land seemed to merge, and the historic Kemeraltı Bazaar was overwhelmed by the flood.
In the Çeşme district of İzmir, strong downpours that were effective during the night turned streets and avenues into lakes, flooding some homes and businesses. A video taken from the sea showed the merging of land and sea.
After the warning issued by the meteorology, İzmir was put on a yellow alert, and the downpour entered from Çeşme in the evening hours. Due to the heavy rainfall affecting the tourist district, streets and avenues were flooded, and some homes and businesses were inundated. Drivers also had difficulty navigating through the accumulated water on the roads.
RAIN WILL BE EFFECTIVE THROUGHOUT THE DAY
Due to the rain, puddles formed on some streets and avenues. Some sections of Anadolu Avenue in the Konak district were filled with water. The historic Kemeraltı Bazaar was also overwhelmed by the flood. Municipal teams took precautions after the rainfall. The rain is expected to be effective throughout the day.
