In the corruption investigation against the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB), 8 out of the 17 suspects who were detained were referred to the court with a request for arrest. Judicial control measures were requested for the other suspects.
In the corruption investigation against the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM), 8 of the 17 suspects who were detained were referred to the peace criminal court with a request for arrest.
As part of the investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the statements of the 17 suspects detained on charges of "giving bribes," "receiving bribes," and "interfering with a tender" have been completed.
REQUEST FOR ARREST FOR 8 PEOPLE
Among the suspects, Ali Cüneyt Özdemir, Can Karataş, Cengiz Tosun, Deniz Erzincan, Erdinç Karataş, Mehmet Karataş, Murat Timuçin Altıer, and Taylan Çokyiğit were referred to the peace criminal court with a request for arrest.
The prosecutor's office requested judicial control measures for 9 suspects.
WHAT HAD HAPPENED?
Following the arrest of Ekrem İmamoğlu, who was removed from his position as the Mayor of IMM, new evidence obtained in the investigation against the suspects, including him, for charges of "being a leader of a criminal organization," "being a member of a criminal organization," "bribery," "qualified fraud," "illegally obtaining personal data," and "interfering with a tender," led to the identification of 18 more suspects.
Operations were carried out by the Istanbul Financial Crimes Investigation Branch teams to capture the suspects who were subject to detention orders for "giving bribes," "receiving bribes," and "interfering with a tender," resulting in the detention of 17 suspects.
