In the case related to the armed fight that broke out in an entertainment venue in Bursa, where Hakan Uyanık was killed, 11 defendants appeared before the judge. Father Mehmet Şakir Uyanık said, "On the morning of the incident, when I went to the hospital, I saw them putting my son in a body bag. I was going to buy my son a car that day." The father's words made a significant impact on the hearing, while it was noted that the bloody fight started with the phrase, "Bringing women from outside is forbidden."
The trial of 11 defendants, 4 of whom are in custody, has begun regarding the fight in which Hakan Uyanık, who was shot with a gun, lost his life after an altercation that spilled outside between employees and customers at an entertainment venue in Bursa.
DISPUTE ERUPTED, 2 PEOPLE WERE SHOT The incident occurred on May 10 at around 05:00 in an entertainment venue located in the Esentepe neighborhood of the central Nilüfer district. A dispute that broke out between S. Y. (28), S. Ö. (26), E. T. (24), who came to the venue to have fun, and the employees turned into a fight. E. T., who was beaten and taken outside, informed S. Y.'s brother Melih Sefa Y. (25) by phone after going to the hospital on his own. Upon this, Melih Sefa Y. and his friends came to the scene. A fight broke out here between Melih Sefa Y., his friend Hakan Uyanık, security officer Berkant Alkan (20), and Emre Erdem (28). In the fight, Hakan Uyanık was shot in the abdomen, and Melih Sefa Y. was shot in the right leg and left arm. Uyanık, who was taken to a private hospital by the vehicles of those around, lost his life. While 11 people were detained regarding the incident, moments when the 3 friends were taken out of the venue were captured by a security camera of an apartment building.
OWNER ACCUSED OF INCITEMENT RELEASED 2 MONTHS LATER After their procedures at the police station, the suspects, including S. İ. (57), who is claimed to be the owner of the venue, Berkant Alkan, Emre Erdem, and employees Kadir Erdoğan (29) and E. G. (25), were arrested, while I. Ç. (32), S. O. (31), and S. O. (24), along with the deceased Hakan Uyanık's friends A. A. (21), E. Y. E (25), and I. K. (33), were released to be tried without detention. S. İ. was also released from prison 2 months later.
A case has been opened against 11 defendants, 4 of whom are in custody, for the crimes of 'incitement to intentional killing', 'intentional killing in participation', 'intentional injury with a firearm', and 'intentional injury with an object considered a firearm'.
"WHEN MY GIRLFRIEND CAME, THEY SAID 'BRINGING WOMEN FROM OUTSIDE IS PROHIBITED'" The trial of the defendants has begun. The hearing at the Bursa 5th High Criminal Court was attended by the mother of the deceased Hakan Uyanık, Hülya Uyanık, his father Mehmet Şakir Uyanık, complainants, defendants, and their lawyers. In the hearing, S. Y., S. Ö., and E. T., who recounted the day of the incident, stated that they went out to have fun together, saying, "While we were sitting in the restaurant, my girlfriend also came. After my girlfriend was let in, the waiters brought the bill and said, 'Bringing women from outside is prohibited,' and mentioned that there were hostess services. At that moment, a waiter leaned in and said that the boss wanted to talk to me. When I went to S. İ., I said that we did not want to cause any trouble and that we came to have fun. I even said that we had a mutual acquaintance. He cursed at me, hit me, and gave the order to 'Hit them.' They attacked us with sticks. When we were taken outside, the beating continued. At one point, Emre Erdem put a gun in S. Ö.'s mouth and said, 'Should I shoot you?' After a while, they let us go. S. Ö. fainted. We went to the hospital. While we were at the hospital, we learned that Hakan and my brother Melih Sefa had been shot," he said.
Hakan Uyanık "I AIMED AT HIS HEAD, I PUSHED THE GUN WITH ALL MY MIGHT" Melih Sefa Y., who was given the floor in the hearing, claimed that S. İ., who is alleged to be the owner of the venue and was released on judicial control conditions two months after being arrested, gave instructions to his employees to open fire and stated that they did not have a gun. He said:
"On the day of the incident, I was with Hakan Uyanık. That night, I received a call from E. T. On the phone, he said, 'S. Ö. fainted, S. Y. is in very bad condition, he can't get up. Hurry up and come get us.' Upon this, I told my late friend, 'I'm going.' Hakan said, 'Don't go alone, I'm coming too.' So we went to pick up the injured. When Hakan parked the car, I got out of the car. I was in front, and Hakan was a few steps behind me. There was a group of 10 people in front of us. Neither of us had a gun. Before I could say, 'What happened here? Where is my brother?' three people opened fire on us. They shot at me from 2 meters away and at Hakan, who was 10 steps behind me. First, Emre Erdem opened fire at my head from 2 meters away. The bullets entered my arm because I was protecting my head. The other one hit my leg. Both Emre Erdem and Berkant pointed guns at me. They were randomly firing at us. I never saw Hakan. Emre Erdem shot his last bullet at my head while I was on the ground. I fell to the ground. The last shots stopped. When they saw that we were both lying on the ground, Emre Erdem came to me and aimed at my head. In the end, I pushed the gun away with both my arms in a panic. The bullet hit the ground. Then they kicked me and threw me into the corner next to my late friend. While they were shooting, I clearly heard S. İ. giving the order to his employees, 'Shoot whoever comes, kill them.' Later, a car came, and they put Hakan in it. They also put me in another vehicle. We went to the hospital. I am complaining about the defendants."
"I FIRED 2-3 SHOTS AT HAKAN UYANIK" Emre Erdem, one of the defendants, who expressed his condolences to the family of the deceased Hakan Uyanık, claimed that he was the uncle of S. İ., who is said to have given the order to open fire, and that he was not with them at the time of the incident. The detained defendant also claimed that his uncle transferred the entertainment venue to someone else a month before the incident and stated that they were fired upon first, saying:
"I work as external security with Berkant Alkan in the restaurant.
On the day of the incident, around 02:00, S. Y., S. Ö., and E. T. arrived. We conducted body searches and let them in. Around 04:00, when it was said that there was a problem inside, we went to the table in question with Berkant and the internal security officer Kadir. We then took them outside. Here, they started to curse at us and approach us aggressively. The argument escalated into a fight. One of them threatened, 'Wait for 20 minutes, I will shoot you.' After the argument ended, a white vehicle came and opened fire from a distance of 15 meters. I took my gun from my car and returned fire. They did not heed Berkant's call to remain calm and continued to shoot. I fired 2-3 shots towards Hakan Uyanık. In my first shot, I aimed at his legs, and in my second shot, I aimed at his abdomen. After the incident, we transported the injured to vehicles. After the injured were taken to the hospital, another vehicle came and started shooting. I do not know who they were. Later, the police arrived, and we surrendered. I regret it; I do not have a request for release. In my statement at the police station, I mentioned that my uncle S. İ. also came to us while trying to take the individuals outside, but this statement may have been made by mistake. My uncle S. İ. was in the management section on the upper floor of the workplace; he definitely did not come to us. My uncle had transferred the restaurant to H. O. about a month ago.
"I FIRED IN THE AIR AND SAID 'CALM DOWN'" Berkant Alkan, who stated that he and Emre Erdem took S. Y., S. Ö., and E. T. outside, said, "Two people who got out of the car opened fire on us from about 8-9 meters away, saying, 'Who hit my brother?' I drew my gun and fired 2-3 shots in the air and said, 'Stop, calm down, let's talk.' When the individuals continued to shoot, Emre Erdem also drew his gun and fired at Hakan Uyanık. After Hakan Uyanık fell to the ground, Melih Sefa Y. started shooting. I also fired 2-3 times aiming at his legs to protect my safety. Both of them fell to the ground. Emre Erdem and I went to the individuals. While the individuals were lying on the ground, 2-3 people came to the scene. They said, 'We will take the injured to the hospital, please allow us.' We then helped them into the vehicles. The injured were sent to the hospital with those who arrived later," he stated.
"I DID NOT INCITE ANYONE" S. İ., who is accused of inciting his employees, stated that he put the entertainment venue up for sale about 1.5 years ago, saying, "When I retired, I transferred the business to my manager H. O. about a month before the incident. I did not incite anyone. On the day of the incident, I came to talk to H. O. about payments. When the incident occurred, I headed outside. When I saw that the door was locked by Kadir Erdoğan, I asked what was happening. They told me there was an armed fight outside. When I went outside, I saw the deceased lying on the ground. I intervened. I did not incite; on the contrary, I tried to help," he said.
"IF MY SON HAD A GUN, COULDN'T HE HAVE SHOT FROM 3 METERS?" Mehmet Şakir Uyanık, the father of Hakan Uyanık, who lost his life, stated during the hearing that he was at home when his son died, saying, "Forget about my son having a feud; he was a well-liked person in his surroundings and neighborhood. I have been listening to the defendants since this morning. My son cannot shoot them from 3 meters, but they can shoot from 8-10 meters. If my son had a gun, couldn't he have shot from 3 meters? When I went to the hospital that morning, I saw them putting my son in a body bag. I was going to buy my son a car that day," he said.
The court panel decided to release the detained defendant E. G., who claimed in his defense that it was his first day of work, that he was working as a valet at the restaurant, and that he was not involved in the incident, under judicial control and postponed the hearing.
