UNCLE SALIM GÜRAN ACQUITTED OF ONE CHARGE

The Chief Public Prosecutor's Office decided that there was no grounds for prosecution against uncle Salim Güran, who was sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment for the crime of "intentional murder of a child in participation" at the decision hearing on December 28, 2024, in the case he was tried at the Diyarbakır 8th High Criminal Court, regarding the charge of "deprivation of liberty."

"NARIN'S BODY HAD NOT BEEN FOUND AT THE TIME OF HIS ARREST"

The decision stated the following regarding Salim Güran: "He was initially detained due to the presence of DNA evidence belonging to Narin Güran in his car, and since Narin's lifeless body had not yet been found at that time, it was decided to arrest him for the act of 'deprivation of liberty' based on the possibility of abduction; however, it was understood in the later stages that the act was 'intentional murder' and that the elements of the crime of 'deprivation of liberty' were not fulfilled."

The Chief Public Prosecutor's Office also decided that there was no grounds for prosecution against Vecdi Bahtiyar, the brother of Nevzat Bahtiyar, who confessed to hiding Narin's lifeless body in the Eğertutmaz Stream and was sentenced to 4 years and 6 months in prison for the crime of "destruction, concealment, or alteration of evidence."
