Efforts to capture fugitive individuals are ongoing as part of the earthquake investigations coordinated by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
In this context, teams received a tip-off that Sami Kervancıoğlu and Mustafa Pekel, who were wanted for causing the collapse of the Ezgi Apartment during the February 6 earthquakes, were found in a house in the Etimesgut district of Ankara. They arrested the two defendants in an operation they conducted. The two defendants brought to the Kahramanmaraş Courthouse were arrested by the duty magistrate.
FROM THE INDICTMENT
In the indictment prepared by the Kahramanmaraş Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it is stated that the defendants, Sami Kervancıoğlu, the official of the pastry shop operating in the apartment, and Mustafa Pekel, along with the arrested defendant Ertan Danacı, who organized the renovation in the pastry shop, are charged with "intentional killing with probable intent" and "intentional injury with probable intent" 35 times, with sentences ranging from 700 years and 4 months to 876 years and 6 months. For the non-arrested defendant Y.A., the contractor of the apartment, and the non-arrested defendant M.T., the technical responsible, they face charges of "causing death and injury with conscious negligence," with sentences ranging from 8 months to 22 years and 5 months. For 7 public officials, a prison sentence of up to 15 years is sought for the crime of "causing the death or injury of multiple persons through negligence."
