In his speech at the Urla Harvest Festival, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Cemil Tugay called out, "This nation needs to rise up, take ownership of this country." During his speech, he said to Urla District Governor Mustafa Gözlet, "We expect your applause," but the governor did not join in the applause.
The Urla Harvest Festival, organized by the Urla Municipality, began with an opening ceremony held at Cumhuriyet Square. The ceremony was attended by Urla District Governor Mustafa Gözlet, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Dr. Cemil Tugay, Urla Mayor Selçuk Balkan, Bayraklı Mayor İrfan Önal, and many citizens.
"THIS NATION NEEDS TO RISE"
In his speech, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Cemil Tugay drew attention to the thousands of years of agricultural and cultural heritage, stating, "Will they be subjected to drought, water scarcity, desertification, fires, and a poor economic order in such a beautiful country? Or will we leave these lands to them in a better way? This is not something that can be achieved only by mayors or public administrators; this nation needs to rise." Tugay emphasized that his speech was not a political call but a call to take ownership of the country.
A CALL TO THE DISTRICT GOVERNOR: "YOU SHOULD APPLAUD TOO"
As applause rose during his speech, Tugay remarked, "Anyone who does not applaud does not believe in taking ownership of this country and this nation," and turned to Urla District Governor Mustafa Gözlet, saying, "Dear Governor, we expect you to applaud. I expect everyone to applaud in the name of taking ownership of this country and this nation." However, it was observed that Governor Gözlet did not join in the applause.
