The CHP is entering the political arena and becoming active with the party congress. With just 3 years left until the presidential election, a survey conducted in March drew attention. In response to the question, "If there were an election this Sunday, who would you like to see as President?" President Erdoğan, Mansur Yavaş, Ekrem İmamoğlu, and Özgür Özel were in the running. In the competition, President Erdoğan came in first with 31.2% support.
The latest public opinion poll conducted by Asal Research in March 2025 revealed voter trends regarding the presidential elections. In the survey conducted with 2,000 people across Turkey, participants were asked, "If the presidential election were to take place this Sunday, which of the names I will read below would you like to see as President?"
ERDOĞAN IN FIRST PLACE
In response to the question, "If the presidential election were to take place this Sunday, which of the names I will read below would you like to see as President?", participants indicated their support for President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at 31.2%.
Erdoğan's closest rivals appear to be Ankara Metropolitan Mayor Mansur Yavaş with 25.5% and Ekrem İmamoğlu with 22.0%. Among other candidates, CHP Leader Özgür Özel received 4.3% support, while 5.2% of participants preferred "another candidate." Notably, 11.8% of those surveyed marked the option of "I have no opinion/no answer/none."
WHO SHOULD BE CHP'S CANDIDATE?
Responses to the question, "Who do you think should be CHP's presidential candidate from the names I will read below?" reveal preferences for CHP's presidential candidacy.
In this context, Mansur Yavaş stands out with 29.2% support, followed by Ekrem İmamoğlu with 27.0%. Özgür Özel receives 7.5% support, while 4.0% prefer another candidate. Importantly, 22.6% of participants indicated "I have no opinion/no answer" for this question, while 9.7% marked the "none" option.
İMAMOĞLU ON THE RISE
A downward trend in support is observed for Mansur Yavaş, who is currently the most popular candidate in CHP's polls. Support, which was 36.5% in August 2024, has decreased to 29.2% in March 2025. However, on average, Yavaş has the highest support at 34.4%. Ekrem İmamoğlu's support shows fluctuations. His support, which was 20.8% in August 2024, rose to 27.1% in December 2024, then decreased and returned to 27.0% in March 2025. His average support is 23.5%.
THIRD HIGHEST VOTE: NO OPINION
The "I have no opinion/no answer" option is showing a significantly high rate (25.8% on average), indicating the presence of a substantial undecided voter base. There is a noticeable upward trend in the proportion of those saying "none": it was 2.3% in August 2024 and has risen to 9.7% in March 2025. This may indicate an increasing dissatisfaction among voters with the current candidates.
ÖZGÜR ÖZEL'S RATE IS INCREASING
Özgür Özel's support fluctuates between 4.0% and 8.5%, averaging at 6.3%. In March, the rate rose to 7.5.
Overall, while Mansur Yavaş is leading by a wide margin, there is a downward trend in his support, whereas İmamoğlu's support shows a fluctuating upward trend. Additionally, the increase in those saying "none" and the high undecided rate may suggest dissatisfaction or uncertainty regarding candidates within the CHP.
