In the extraordinary congress of the CHP, Özgür Özel stated, "They couldn't find an expert to sign the report at MASAK. Under the direct pressure of Mehmet Şimşek, they had an assistant expert sign it." The Ministry of Treasury and Finance responded with a denial. In a statement from the ministry, it was said, "Legal action will be taken regarding the defamatory and baseless accusations aimed at our Minister."

Özgür Özel, during his speech at the 21st Extraordinary Congress of the CHP, for which he is a candidate for the party leadership again, claimed that the MASAK report in the investigation regarding the detained İBB President Ekrem İmamoğlu was prepared with the knowledge of the Minister of Treasury and Finance, Mehmet Şimşek.

"THEY MADE HIM SIGN UNDER ŞİMŞEK'S PRESSURE"

In his speech, Özel stated, "Those who prepared the conspiracy talked about a MASAK report in December, January, and February. They could not find an expert or senior official to sign the report at MASAK. Under the direct pressure of Mehmet Şimşek, and with the task given to him by Tayyip Erdoğan, they made an assistant expert sign."

MINISTRY'S IMMEDIATE DENIAL

The Ministry of Treasury and Finance stated in a statement regarding the issue that the allegations are unfounded and said legal action would be taken. The statement included the following remarks: "CHP Chairman Mr. Özgür Özel has once again targeted our Minister of Treasury and Finance by accusing him with baseless and unfounded statements during his congress speech today. As has been stated many times, the information that MASAK has forwarded to judicial authorities is outside the knowledge and approval of the Ministry. In this process, it is not possible for our Minister or the Ministry's offices to have prior knowledge or intervention. We strongly reject and condemn the persistent and unfounded accusations against our Minister. In this context, legal action will be taken regarding the slander and unfounded accusations aimed at our Minister as part of an attempt to assassinate his reputation."
