In Şanlıurfa, 13 people, including the father, mother, stepmother, and some relatives, have been detained in connection with the death of 6-year-old Zehra Topdağ, who went missing 11 years ago while playing in front of her home and was later found dead in a cotton sack.
In Şanlıurfa, on January 26, 2014, after 6-year-old Zehra Topdağ went missing while playing with her friends in the rural Akdilek neighborhood of the Eyyübiye district, her family reported her disappearance to the gendarmerie.
HER BODY WAS FOUND IN A COTTON SACK
During the search efforts, little Zehra's lifeless body was found in a cotton sack under a wooden bench in front of her uncle İsmail Topdağ's house. An examination at the scene revealed that Zehra had been strangled to death.
SPECIAL TEAM FORMED, SUSPECT OR SUSPECTS NOT IDENTIFIED
A special team was formed to solve the murder. During this time, many people were detained, but the suspect or suspects of the murder could not be identified.
11 YEARS AFTER THE INCIDENT, FAMILY MEMBERS DETAINED
Security forces continued their efforts 11 years after the murder. The teams, which reached new evidence, detained 13 people, including father Halil T., mother Amşe, and stepmother Ceylan T. The detained suspects were brought to the courthouse under heavy security measures after their procedures at the gendarmerie. The investigation is ongoing.
