In the İznik district of Bursa, a landlord who disturbed his tenant by performing a traditional dance through a chimney hole he broke two years ago to force the tenant to leave has been sentenced to 6 months and 7 days in prison by the court.

The incident occurred 2 years ago in a house located in the Yeşil Cami neighborhood of İznik district. According to the information obtained, Nusret Durmaz, a tenant living with his family on the ground floor of the two-story house, was subjected to psychological pressure from the landlord Tenzile Bulunmuş, who lived on the upper floor. As the pressures from the landlord Tenzile Bulunmuş increased day by day, tenant Nusret Durmaz recorded the landlord's pressures on his mobile phone. After the recordings, Durmaz went to the İznik District Police Department and filed a complaint against the landlord. The landlord had broken the flue and played horon music late at night.

Tenzile Bulunmuş, who stated that her tenant did not leave the house despite the end of the lease, said, "When the lease ended, I told them, 'Find yourself a house. You have lived here for 2 years, your lease is over.' I wanted them to leave, but they said, 'We won't leave.' At that time, I had gone to Istanbul to take care of a patient. They called me and said, 'Your tenant is not leaving.' My friends said, 'Let us help, we will rent a house and get them out.' I came back from Istanbul, and the tenants told me, 'They are not giving us a house, we won't leave.' They haven't paid rent since August. They are also badmouthing my house. They say, 'There is a lot of dampness, don't rent it.'" she had stated.

"I AM PLAYING MUSIC BY BREAKING THE FLUE"

Tenzile Bulunmuş explained the method she used to get her tenant to leave the house, saying, "I live off the rent I receive. However, I have been victimized because they do not pay and do not offer the price I want. Now I am moving the television around the house. I am making noise from there. They have 4 children, and they disturb us by slamming the doors. I am exhausted. I am playing music by breaking the flue wall. They are tormenting me in my own house. They are kicking the doors. Every time I say, 'Don't do that, stop,' they slam the door in my face. I hope they never find peace. I want them to leave my house." she had said.

Tenant Nusret Durmaz, recounting what he experienced during that time, said: "We are tenants in this house. We pay our rent every month. The landlord's aim is to rent it out at a higher price. They made us listen to music through the stove pipe. This current situation is a bleeding wound in society. If you are right, do not give up. You cannot resolve this with bullying. We have filed a complaint."

PRISON SENTENCE FOR THE LANDLORD FROM THE COURT

The İznik Criminal Court of First Instance sentenced the landlord Tenzile Bulunmuş to 6 months and 7 days in prison for the crime of 'disturbing the peace and tranquility.' The sentence of Tenzile Bulunmuş, who has no criminal record, was postponed for 5 years. After these actions, tenant Nusret Durmaz had also left the house. The apartment of Tenzile Bulunmuş, which was the subject of the incidents on the lower floor, has been vacant for 2 years.
