The investigation into the death of 14-year-old Murat İmrağ, who lost his life after being shot with a handgun at a house he was visiting in Sakarya, has been completed. A case was filed against the 16-year-old defendant in detention, seeking up to 27 years in prison, and against his grandfather, the owner of the gun, seeking up to 6 years in prison.
In the incident that occurred on July 24 on Türkmen Street in the Ahmediye Neighborhood of Arifiye district, Murat İmrağ (14) lost his life as a result of the firing of a licensed handgun belonging to F.K. The indictment prepared by the Sakarya Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against Y.D.S., who was arrested within the scope of the investigation launched after the incident, was accepted by the Sakarya 6th High Criminal Court.
In the indictment, it was requested that 16-year-old Y.D.S. be punished with imprisonment from 19 to 27 years for the crime of 'intentionally killing a child with premeditation.' The file stated that Murat İmrağ, who came from Istanbul to Sakarya the day before the incident for his sister's birthday celebration, spent the night with Y.D.S. on the third floor of the house. It was recorded that on the day of the incident, while the two children were playing on a phone in the bedroom of Y.D.S.'s grandfather F.K., the defendant took his grandfather's licensed handgun from the lower drawer of the nightstand and fired one shot toward Murat İmrağ's head.
HE PUT THE GUN BACK IN THE DRAWER
The indictment stated that gunshot residue was detected in swabs taken from Murat İmrağ during the forensic examination, while no gunshot residue was found in swabs taken from Y.D.S. It was reported that the defendant said the incident happened by mistake, but the assessments that by putting the gun back in the drawer after firing he destroyed possible gunshot residue traces on his hands, the presence of images related to gun use on his phone, and witness statements were evaluated together. The file also noted that there was a statement that the defendant had shown Murat İmrağ the gun he had pulled from his waist about a year before the incident. Evaluating all these matters together, the Prosecutor's Office recorded that sufficient suspicion had been reached to file a public prosecution that the defendant carried out his act with premeditation.
A CASE WAS ALSO FILED AGAINST THE GRANDFATHER, THE OWNER OF THE GUN
A separate indictment was also prepared against F.K., the owner of the licensed handgun used in the incident. In the indictment, which included the assessment that the gun was kept without the necessary care and attention, it was requested that F.K. be punished with imprisonment from 2 to 6 years for the crime of 'causing death by negligence.' This indictment was sent to the 14th Criminal Court of First Instance.
THE QUESTIONS HE ASKED ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE WERE ENTERED IN THE FILE
The investigation file also included Y.D.S.'s correspondence with an artificial intelligence application before the incident. It was stated that it was determined that the defendant asked questions on July 11 about topics such as the harm guns can cause, the sentence he could receive if he killed someone, self-defense, and life imprisonment, and that on July 18 he asked the question "Does the devil load an empty gun?" Within the scope of the incident, F.K., the owner of the gun, who had previously been released, was detained again as part of the investigation and was arrested on October 16.
