The Competition Authority has decided to open an investigation into Haribo Candy Industry and Trade Ltd. The company is accused of hindering competition in the market, excluding competitors, and interfering with the resale prices of sales points.
According to the statement made by the Competition Authority, the preliminary investigation initiated in January regarding Haribo has been concluded by the board.
The board, which discussed the information, documents, and findings obtained during the preliminary investigation, found the findings serious and sufficient, and decided to open an investigation against Haribo.
ALLEGATION OF ABUSE OF DOMINANT POSITION IN THE MARKET
The investigation was opened to determine whether the company violated the Law on the Protection of Competition by allegedly hindering competition in the relevant market by abusing its dominant position in the soft candy market, excluding competitors through practices and behaviors that led to actual exclusivity, and interfering with the resale prices of sales points.
The investigation decisions taken by the board do not mean that the undertakings under investigation have violated the relevant law and are facing or will face sanctions.
