In a statement released by the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was stated that Iran will continue to exercise its right to self-defense until attacks against the country are halted, and it was emphasized that "no country can allow its territory to be used for attacks against another country."
The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement regarding the regional countries following the attacks by the USA and Israel on Iran.
"THE USA AND ISRAEL TARGETED CIVIL SETTLEMENTS"
The statement emphasized that the territories and resources of regional countries should not be used for military attacks against Iran. It was stated that in the attacks by the USA and Israel on Iran, civilian residential areas were targeted, and it was expressed that "These attacks are a clear violation of Iran's territorial integrity and national sovereignty. Iran's right to legitimate defense against this attack is a recognized right under Article 51 of the United Nations (UN) Charter. The Iranian armed forces are utilizing all their capabilities against the attacks and will continue to exercise their right to legitimate defense until the attacks are stopped. The UN Security Council must identify the aggressor and assume the necessary responsibility in accordance with Article 39 of the UN Charter."
"DEFENSE OPERATIONS ARE LEGITIMATE UNDER INTERNATIONAL LAW"
The statement noted, "Iran is conducting necessary and proportional defense operations against the military bases and resources of the aggressor party in accordance with its right to legitimate defense under the UN Charter. These actions are legitimate under international law, and necessary warnings have been made at various levels regarding this matter before."
"A STATE CANNOT ALLOW ITS TERRITORY TO BE USED FOR ATTACKS"
The statement addressing the fundamental principles of international law stated, "According to the fundamental principles of international law, no country can allow its territory to be used for the purpose of attacking another country. The UN General Assembly's (UNGA) Resolution 3314 also considers the use of a country's territory for attacking another country as an act of aggression. According to the fundamental principles of international law, states should not allow forces on their territory to carry out attacks against other countries and should not assist or facilitate such actions. Otherwise, international responsibility will arise for the damages suffered by the attacked country."
"DEFENSE OPERATIONS ARE NOT DIRECTED AGAINST REGIONAL COUNTRIES"
The statement highlighted that Iran places great importance on maintaining friendly relations with regional countries, stating, "Iran's defense operations against the military bases and resources of the USA in the region should not be regarded as hostile actions against regional countries in any way. No factor can undermine Iran's right to self-defense against the military attacks of the USA and Israel. The target of Iran's defense operations is the military facilities and resources of the parties carrying out the attacks. Regional countries should also be aware that the military bases used by the USA are not for security purposes but are used to facilitate these attacks."
