Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi claimed that the exiled son of the deposed Shah, Reza Pahlavi, agreed on a plan to fragment Iran during his visit to Israel. Araghchi asserted that plans aimed at dividing the country and overthrowing the regime have ended in failure.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, in his statements to the country's press, targeted the exiled son of the deposed Shah, opposition figure Reza Pahlavi, and the Israeli administration. Araghchi claimed that Pahlavi, during his contacts with Israel, agreed on a scenario directly targeting Iran's territorial integrity and regime.

"PERIPHERAL REGIONS ARE YOURS, THE CENTER IS MINE" CLAIMS

Referring to Pahlavi's meetings during his visit to Israel, Araghchi made the following allegations regarding the alleged bargaining:

"During a visit to Israel, Reza Pahlavi agreed on the fragmentation of Iran. In the negotiations, he used expressions like, 'Let the peripheral regions be yours, and let that central area be mine, let me become the Shah.' They had made all their plans to divide Iran, collapse the regime, and foment internal unrest, but they failed."

BACKGROUND: THE 2023 VISIT TO ISRAEL

Reza Pahlavi, accused of "treason" by the Iranian administration, visited Israel in April 2023. In this first open visit by a high-level Iranian opposition figure to Israel since the 1979 Islamic Revolution, Pahlavi met with numerous officials, including Israeli President Isaac Herzog and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

While Pahlavi's camp described the visit as "a step to re-establish the historic friendship between the peoples of Iran and Israel and to support the Abraham Accords," the Tehran administration continues to argue that these contacts are part of foreign powers' intervention plans.
