It has been claimed that a new regulation has been made for the ongoing installment deadlock in the smartphone market, and that the 12-month installment application for smartphones up to 20,000 TL is expected to be expanded to cover devices priced at 30,000-35,000 TL. The Ministry of Trade, making a statement on the matter, denied the claims.
Claims that the 12-installment limit on smartphone purchases will be expanded have been denied by the Ministry of Trade. The Ministry stated that there is no study underway at the Ministry regarding installment payments for brand-new mobile phone sales.
In a statement made on the Ministry's social media account regarding the issue, the following was noted:
"Regulations on installment payments for brand-new mobile phone sales fall under the authority of the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BDDK), and there is no new study underway at our Ministry. This information is announced to the public."
