After Israel's midnight airstrike of 300 attacks on Iran, many countries closed their airspace. Flights made emergency landings in Istanbul.
After Israel's attack on Iran, Iran closed the airspace of Iraq and Jordan, while Israel indefinitely suspended operations at Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv. Israel's flag carrier airline, El Al Airlines, also announced that it had halted its flights in Israel.
RETURNED TO DEPARTURE POINTS
Air India, which uses Iranian airspace for flights to Europe and North America, announced that it had changed the routes of some flights and that some flights had returned to their departure points.
During the attack, flights operated by Emirates, Lufthansa, and Air India were in Iranian airspace. After the attack, flights were redirected to the airspaces of Central Asian countries and Saudi Arabia.
EMERGENCY LANDING AT ISTANBUL AIRPORT
While some flights heading to Dubai changed their routes, an Emirates flight from Manchester to Dubai made an emergency landing at Istanbul Airport.
