Following the overthrow of the 61-year Ba'ath regime in Syria, the Israeli army conducted airstrikes on 250 targets in the region. Army radio announced that one of the largest airstrike operations in Israel's history was carried out in Syria after the fall of the Assad regime.
The Israeli army reportedly struck 250 targets in Syria with airstrikes following the overthrow of the 61-year Baath regime. In a report by Israeli army radio, it was stated that "one of the largest airstrike operations in Israeli history" was carried out in Syria after the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime.
The report indicated that the airstrikes by Israel targeted military bases belonging to the Assad army, dozens of fighter jets, numerous surface-to-air missile systems, a weapons production site, and storage facilities.
"A FIRST IN OVER 50 YEARS"
In a report by Yedioth Ahronoth, it was stated that "for the first time in over 50 years, Israel attacked all Syrian air bases."
APPROXIMATELY 300 TARGETS STRUCK
The report mentioned that Israel seized the opportunity to eliminate significant new weapons in Syria, noting that hundreds of fighter jets and drones were used in attacks across Syria since the moment the Assad regime fell. It was stated that approximately 300 targets have been struck so far as a result of Israel's airstrikes on Syria.
THEY ENTERED THE BUFFER ZONE IN THE GOLAN HEIGHTS
The Israeli army had entered the buffer zone in the occupied Golan Heights under the instructions of Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yisrael Katz.
NETANYAHU SAID "THE OCCUPATION IS TEMPORARY"
Israel has been occupying the Golan Heights, which belong to Syria, since 1967. The borders of the buffer zone and the demilitarized zone were defined by the Forces Withdrawal Agreement signed between Israel and Syria in 1974. Netanyahu claimed in a statement made in the Golan Heights that "the occupation is temporary." The Israeli army had shared visuals of soldiers and armored vehicles occupying the buffer zone in the Golan with the public.
