A striking detail has emerged in the signing process of German goalkeeper Alexander Nübel, who was added to Beşiktaş's squad. It was stated that the black-and-whites' former goalkeeper Loris Karius gave negative feedback to his compatriot Nübel, advising him not to transfer to Beşiktaş.
In line with the new season restructuring, Beşiktaş, continuing its transfer efforts, added German goalkeeper Alexander Nübel to its squad last week.
FAMILIAR OBSTACLE IN TRANSFER
While this transfer process for the black-and-whites was ongoing, it emerged that a familiar face was trying to sabotage the process behind the scenes. According to reports in the German press, Alexander Nübel, who received an official offer from Beşiktaş, contacted his compatriot Loris Karius, who had previously worn the black-and-white jersey, to get an idea about Turkey and the club. However, Karius, citing the salary payment issues he experienced during his time at Beşiktaş, gave Nübel a negative reference. It was stated that Karius, who expressed a negative opinion about the club, advised his compatriot not to approve this transfer.
GRAF RESOLVED THE CRISIS
Following Karius's negative guidance, it was noted that the Beşiktaş management took swift action, and the German chief scout Eduard Graf stepped in, holding a private meeting with Alexander Nübel and convincing him.
